While it is true the other team shouldn't have scored as much in the first place, the same can be said if the offense had done their part in most of our close games/losses. If so, we'd be undefeated and probably seeded #1 or #2 in the CFP.Yes, but his defenses HAD to stop those teams on the last play or we lose. Many of us will lean on the idea that the other team should not have scored enough in the first place to be in a position to win on the last play.
There is such disdain for PG that folks don't realize our offense under BOB is scoring a TD less in the last two years than we did in the previous 2-3 years.
I know you can go back to CJP years and the defense gave up less points, but since 2018 we've averaged allowing right at 20 points a game and yet the thing that has changed the most is we are scoring about 7 points less per game on offense.
All things equal, had we averaged 45-48 points a game as we did before BOB, we aren't on the outside of the CFP right now.
We'd still be questioning PG as the right DC, but we'd be in our customary spot in early January.
