Who’s leading QB1 race in FALL practice?

I wonder how much of the discrepancy in who looks best at QB is related to what sounds like the receivers not catching the ball consistently. Contrary to what Coach Saban said to today at his presser, it sounds like our receivers are still really struggling with this, which is absolutely mind boggling. I would understand it if it was one or two guys, but it sounds like it's all of them. This is my biggest area of concern.

I can say without a doubt that these receivers aren’t going to be able to bail out our quarterbacks. Even with that said there is a clear difference between how Buchner handles the offense and how Milroe does.

Simpson by far is the hardest to read.

I didn't follow the 2016 QB battle as closely or at least I don't remember it as well.

But Bateman and Barnett were named co starters only for Barnett to be pulled after 1 series for Hurts and then Hurts was the guy.

So, idk what people at scrimmages were saying but really we're not going to know for sure until the games.

Basically Bateman looked like the guy in the spring and Barnett was the guy in the fall… however there are two very big things to understand…. Jalen was far better in 2016 than Milroe is now as a passer and Buchner and Simpson are far better than Bateman and Barnett.

Hopefully they get their hearts and their hands right...............otherwise some 2s and 3 receivers might get a chance

Positives…. Our DBs can actually cover a guy like glue and Dallas Turner might be as good as if not potentially better than Will Anderson.

Reichard hit a 60 yarder

Our running backs are deep in talent

Steele on the sideline is awesome.

TEs look good

We are very physical and wrap up.

Hopefully the defense is done with the 3rd and Golding tendencies of the past

How is Milroe even an option then?

Well Hurts wasn't great as a passer until 2018 really, so that's not good. The thing that Hurts struggled with in his freshman year were fumbles, which almost lost us the Ole Miss game that year if not for Bozeman. This is also something that Milroe really struggled with in the A&M game. Honestly, if he doesn't fumble twice in that game, our recollection of his performance might be better.

I honestly don’t know. Maybe he has the team behind him and the others don’t or maybe it’s just that the staff really doesn’t know what to do. Based on today, I’m just saying this is the same Milroe vs aTm that you saw with no changes whatsoever.

Personally I would just flip a coin on TB and TS and take my chances at this point. But then again I haven’t won 7 NCs so….

If he's that bad and still QB1 then I'm not going to completely count out Lonergan yet. Although a lot of people seemed impressed with Buchner today.

Idk. I'm ready for the season

That’s been my fear all along, that Milroe wouldn’t get better. I like the kid, he just doesn’t seem like a QB to me. He could be an absolute weapon with the ball in space, but he can’t throw. He’s basically Anthony Richardson without the hype.

To me personally… I thought Buchner was the best but I could easily see someone say Ty was as well. It’s just a matter of perspective.

Lonergan I don’t know. The people who are not so high on the possibility of him being the quarterback seem to be the more connected sources. But he looks very good.

I feel like Buchner can get the job done. But the receivers have to step it up. And no, I don't mean playing out of their mind. I mean just making simple freaking catches.

I think that is a fair assessment. When the more credible sources last week said he struggled at the 1st scrimmage I wasn’t surprised. But then within an hour there was a massive amount of people saying the opposite, I was like “maybe he turned the corner and the sources were off”. But what I’m finding is that Milroe is very well loved by former players and probably has the most biased and dishonest fans in the media. Im kinda questioning how good of a scrimmage he really had a week ago.

Murray comes across like a guy who's bitter that he could never actually win the big one. And deep down he knows he is going to be remembered as the guy who quinton dialed bodied and the guy that looked gob smacked when 2nd and 26 happened.

Andy Murray is a very unlikeable personality, and his commentary seems totally unresearched. I remember watching him get rag-dolled by Nick Fairley in 2010 and feeling bad for him at the time, but now it's kind of funny to look back on. He ranked Will Rogers 9th in SEC QBs this year, and was called out by Hebert for being a baby because Rogers will most likely break his SEC career passing yards record. Murray even went on to say if he doesn't do it this year and comes back for a 5th year to break it, then it shouldn't count. That's pretty juvenile, though it would take Rogers getting injured or benched this season to not break it.

It seems like if Simpson had Lonergan’s production he would be a lock to start. Right or wrong, Lonergan is getting ignored simply because he’s a true Freshman IMO.

Yeah well, British people are snooty…

I want comparing Jalen to any particular QB just that we didn't see that coming. More to the Longeren potential.
