Jalen Milroe is now the starter going forward.

I just watched highlights of the Avalos game. I didn't see any passes just skipping around to the best parts lol. I do fondly remember Shuad Williams and the one play that sticks in my mind from his time was "Smoke Draw". But, same score against USM winning 17-3 and we were probably happier about that win back in 2003 than the win vs USF.
I was at the game. It was a fun day, despite all the problems.

Simpson had an adjusted QBR of 21.5 vs USF. He had a passer rating of 123.7.
Buchner had an adjusted QBR of 15.2 vs USF. He had a passer rating of 56.1.

For comparison, Milroe had an adjusted QBR of 63.7 vs sexat. He had a passer rating of 140.8.

yes....nobody uses passer rating anymore lol as it doesn't correlate to actual effective play. It doesn't measure things like whether you convert a third and 4 by running for 5 yards vs taking a sack there.

QBR isn't perfect, and now there are *far* better and more analytical game scoring tools available. I have no doubt Simpson and Buchner both would have done terrible with them.

You act like milroe doesn’t have massive flaws. 14-27 for a 51 percent completion percentage is bad.
2-2 td-int is bad. That’s with playing most the arkansas game and having 3 starts. He also had all the first team snaps through spring and most of the season. Compare that to Ty playing behind a shaky o line in his first ever meaningful snaps of college football. I can see where Ty could realistically make big leaps over the next few weeks with 1st team reps and game exp. If we could make it through the next few games with out a loss with Ty starting I could see possibly making the sec championship if he improved week to week.

That line performance Saturday was the worst they have looked all year. I’m not saying they tanked or anything like that but from a pass pro standpoint it was horrible. Booker being out probably played a part in that but a TE should have been moved over to help proctor because speed is killing him off the edge. I want to say with 3 of those sacks 2 were from the blindside and less than 3 seconds. The other right up the middle off the snap. Any qb is going to struggle there. Milroe threw two interceptions against Texas from a clean pocket two interceptions where he never even looked for or saw the defender. He also had people wide open on both plays but only locked on to the primary read without reading anything about the defense or his other routes. Milroe is a great athlete but he’s an athlete trying to be a qb. Being an athlete is not even required to play qb and falls low on the list of what makes a good qb.
I hope milroe turns it on and makes me and others eat crow but I don’t see it happening in a two week time span. I’m not saying we are 7-5 like others but I will say 2-3 losses this year is a high probability if milroe doesn’t make massive leaps over the next couple weeks.

where did I act like MIlroe doesn't have massive flaws? I have never said anything good about Milroe's play.

I fully expect Milroe to play poorly going forward. *Most* of the people who believe Milroe should start(probably to include Saban) don't expect him to play well.

I see a lot of posts talking about how people are predicting Milroe won't play well.....as if they are then going to go back and tell the people who would start Milroe "see, I told you so". The problem with this is that very few(any?) of the people who believe Milroe should start believe he will play well lol.....

if they go two deep, playing cover 2, i'm running Mills all day. if they go cover three, I'm running smash routes all day. those are the two most basic route tree combos that you can get. if he can not read those two... I don't know what to say.

You're right in that should be the response to a defense doing that. Unfortunately, JM has yet to show he can execute that concept as it requires pretty precise timing to avoid the INT, which is why he threw two INTs against UTw... SO far, Jm doesn't start his throwing motion until he sees the WR is OPEN, which is too late. The ball has to be on the way to the spot where the WR WILL BE OPEN long before the WR even makes his break/cut.

What I'll be looking for Saturday as a fan.....

1. Are we running the same offense we did vs Texas that Milroe was feast or famine with. Are we calling those same plays where he threw the picks. If we're doing that, knowing he's consistently late on throws and slow on decision making, then it will be a long day.

2. Does the OL let the MLB get home on the famous Gol*ing MLB blitz. At Bama we always got stuffed by the mass of bodies. The way the OL has played i could see Gol*ing looking like a genius.

Will see these early. Its a tell basically.

Hopefully they have someone pick up the middle and neutralize him...................some critics used to say the problem was Saban didn't let PG run his own defense, but a bigger issue was PG not learning the Saban defense and then simplifying it a little more for the players

I do agree with two things Josh Pate said. 1) this is quite possibly THE pivotal game of the season for this team. If, by some rhyme or reason, things click, they come together as team and win this game, it can get them rolling. If they don’t, there could be 2-3 other losses on the schedule. 2) Based on the performances we’ve seen thus far, I haven’t a clue what this game will look like. I wouldn’t bet my worst enemy’s money on this game.

This team is exactly how Churchill described the former Soviet Union: it is “a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma”.

I would play 3 safeties in the game with one of the safeties a spy on Milroe and play zone with 2 other DBs and blitz the other 6 into every gap every play. I don't think our OL can handle that and I don't think JM can't see a collapsing DB in a zone because JM will tell the defense where he is going with the ball. It would be foolish for our DBs to turn their back to JM.
