Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. LSU...

After rewatching the game, the single most important play of the game was early in the 3rd quarter on a 3rd and 10. LSU had just scored and if Milroe doesn’t scramble for the 1st down, we are forced to punt, and there‘s no telling what would have happened. Instead, we got the 1st down, then scored a TD and tied the game. That 3rd down play could have been a 14 point swing.

2nd most important was the INT. That was also potentially another 14 point swing.

LSU had only punted once at that point and was only down 7 and in less than 2:00 mins of gametime the score went from 28-28 to 42-28.

Milroe was Insanely CLUTCH all night though with Runs and Passes and converting CRUCIAL 3rd downs that kept drives moving so we didn't blink and fall behind them.

To be fair, we kinda got away with a horse collar on Daniels earlier in the game (since somehow "something that happened last year" has supposed relevance to tonight).

It has always been standard football practice to "take out" the best player on the other team - but doing so legally and within the confines of the rules, not hitting late, not 11-man gang tackling while another player scores, etc.

But I agree that a lot of us are just plain sick of the two-facedness of fans and officials. Tennessee was - and it was obvious - trying to decapitate Bryce last year, fine, but NOT GETTING CALLED FOR IT was really insane, too.

Did he grab the collar or the jersey? Looked like cloth to me. I am biased though!

Either would suffice. Get your hands inside the pads = foul, grab the jersey by the nameplate area = foul.
I can't tell but the rule says "inside", not outside. Either way, it wasn't called and I'm pretty sure it really had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside back collar of the shoulder pads or jersey, the area, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling the ball carrier down. This does not apply to a ball carrier, including a potential passer, who is inside the tackle box.

Another Bama player got that call several years ago. Can't recall who. Almost exact same hit and take down.
They just called it in the Patriot game, except it was from behind and Commanders' #65 fell on Mac the same way and got the same call. He was also mystified...

I’ve been entertained all day long by the melts. I’ve had some myself, but nobody does it like LSU fans.
I basically never read opposing fan boards. But I peaked over at TD after reading your post, and man are they upset! Like 6 different threads on how the SEC conspired to allow Bama to intentionally injure JD.

One of my favorites:

“There was no way SEC was going to let LSU win that game, notice how everything changed with the offense once we scored after halftime. They want a Bama/Georgia SEC championship.”

😆

I know it’s hard to tell from TV, but I’ve still yet to hear it as loud as 2005 Florida, 2005 Tennessee, or 2009 Tennessee
2009 Tenn was actually a very Ho-hum boring game for 3 & 2/3rds quarters. It was dreary and overcast, the offense was pretty stagnant, Tenn wasn’t doing much. Right up until Ingram’s fumble straight down the sideline, everyone in the stands just knew that Bama was about to put the game away just running out the clock. Only after the fumble did that game start getting loud. Source- was a student in the student section during that game.

Football players don’t think this way. He hit him right after Daniels threw the ball. You’re understandably emotional about this play, but it was definitely not dirty. Turner was already in the process of making the tackle when the ball was thrown. He wasn’t trying to injure Daniels.
He could have driven Daniels into the turf but he even rolled on his side and tried to cushion the fall, for Pete's sake!

I noticed last night before the hit on him, that Daniels, just like several on our team, doesn’t wear a mouthpiece properly. They need to place emphasis on this before something really bad occurs. RTR
