Former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is interested in buying TikTok | CNN Business
While I think social media is generally bad, I don't think Tik Tok is more bad that say Facebook who has already been proven to be complacent in the 2016 election shenanigans and was caught providing data to Cambridge Analytica.
Forcing the break up and ultimate sale to a group lead by someone like this is a bad look (i don't care if they were in a D or R administration previously.)
Maybe not an optimum solution but vastly better than being connected to the Red Chineese. The grift is in

We need to get rid of section 230 also.Again I don't really see that as an issue. What are they going to allow that domestic based social media companies already haven't let China or Russia do?
This is pretty much a boogie man at this point.
We need to get rid of section 230 also.
Looking for my shocked face…😱yep

IMO, any company owned by Chinese nationals (ergo, China) is automatically worse than its competitors, when it comes to unfettered access to biographical/geological info on American citizens in the USThe grift is in

Strengthen not get rid of. I think putting teeth in the moderation clauses and forcing the purging of any bots would do the trick.
End of the day if Facebook, X, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc all shut down, nothing of redeemable value would be lost.
