Those comments have something for everyone.

Some will be Happy that Ty stood out.

Others will be happy it was with the 2nd group…lol

LOL!

Everyone has their favorites, that's just part of being a fan. I don't think there is anything malicious about it (at least on this board). It just is what it is when it comes to being a fan of a sports team. It's almost impossible not to be a bigger fan of one player over another if you watch long enough.

My daughter’s on the Equestrian Team at The University of Alabama…she works hard. They all do…It’s also one of the most dangerous SPORTS in the world…she got first in her discipline that day. Extremely proud of my student/athlete.
I thought travel baseball was expensive until a recent conversation with an equestrian dad

Some of you might be happy about this comment from RB recruit James Simon...

Top 10 RB James Simon goes in-depth on recent Alabama visit
So, he is an incoming player and making comments on current players and which ones stood out to him?
I think a little humility might not be amiss.

One of the silver linings of Coach Saban retiring is that I expect every player will start with a clean slate and the one that offers the team the best chance to win will start.

He is a recruit who saw the scrimmage and was interviewed. I don't think it's a major issue. I don't believe he is expected to commit to Alabama but idk much about him.
Maybe. Even from a potential incoming player it is wisest to keep your comments general and positive: "I saw a lot of amazing athletes getting after it. I like to think I could contribute to this program and play alongside these great players." (Even if you think to yourself, "Man, I could outrun or run over these linebackers.")

I fail to see how anyone could make such a leap in conclusions, but inferences are personal.
With all due respect, how many people posting here played or coached sports at any where near the level similar to the coaches and players at a program like Alabama?

I played soccer and tennis in high school, and I was pretty darn good, even finished 3rd in the state in my group in tennis. I played men's club soccer (not intramurals but the actual university-funded men's club program that traveled to other universities for games and so on) at the university level. I also have a coaching license in soccer and coached at the high school level.

I can watch a soccer game and a tennis match and see things that the vast majority of the general public doesn't see. But my experience as a competitive high school player, collegiate club player and high school coach does not make me any kind of expert on anything relating to playing or coaching at an elite university level such as what exists at a school like Alabama.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that the vast majority of people posting stuff about the intricacies of playing and coaching the QB position at an SEC level are more similarly situated to me than a Jalen Milroe or Coach DeBoer.

I go to my son's high school soccer games and my wife (who was a scholarship soccer player at Alabama back in the 1990's) and I are simply appalled at the stuff a lot of the parents (and even the coaches at times) say during the games. Many of them act like they're Pep Guardiola when in reality most of them wouldn't know him if they ran him over in the parking lot and know as much about soccer as I know about quantum physics.
I accept your stated credentials for what they are.

What about the multitudes of other people on here talking mechanics, development, coaching and all that stuff.

Fundamentals may stay the same, but the ability to execute and coach them is what I'm talking about.

I know the fundamentals of soccer and tennis, but I'm not going to claim to know as much as a major D1 player or coach in those sports.

Moreover, I suspect there's a lot more than basic-level fundamentals in terms of reading defenses and stuff like that for a QB at the SEC level and developing players to do that kind of stuff.
I fail to see how anyone could make such a leap in conclusions, but inferences are personal.
None of this sounds like you're questioning people's qualifications at all

With all due respect to you, as well as your daughter…
she is quite beautiful

It sure beats the alternative of low energy levels and complaints about anxiety. From everything I've heard and read, we have reason to be positive, with exciting times ahead. I certainly look forward to kickoff August 31st.
I agree - the high energy can be bad if it’s uncontrolled and not channeled into focus at the right time. It can be good if it’s maintained and integrated into every aspect of performance. From a fan’s perspective, its almost always more preferable than a robotic, business-like approach; if the results are the same, I can’t imagine anyone choosing the latter because the game is supposed to be exciting and the high-energy performance provides that in spades.

And you should be - congratulations to both of you.

That is cool. I would get a great workout holding on for dear life to the reigns so I wouldn’t fall off.

Your credentials are impressive. Congrats, and I mean this.

The thing is, you are a moderator and this is a message board built for people to post things. Reading other poster's opinions, weighing them, and stating our own would seem to be the purpose of why we are here. Am I correct in saying this?

I do not think that Milroe has what it takes to be a great Alabama QB. Who was the last Tide QB that you would say that Milroe equals in performance? I really do like the kid, especially when he makes references to God. I am rooting for him and expect him to be named the starter.

Now, would I rather see Simpson start? Yes. Do I know as much as the Crimson Tide coaching staff? Of course not, but this is why I'm posting here instead of leading the Tide onto the field.

I hope that you are not taking this post as being combative, snide, or brusque. I appreciate being here. My coaching qualifications do not equal yours and I get this. My entire point is that we are all entitled to our respectful and respective opinions.

Based on your experience, do you think that yanking Milroe as the starter would have negative consequenses in the locker room from the players?

Peace.
