Can't wait to see 'em all perform on TV next Saturday! But yes, "Interesting."

This can only help the competition.

Biggest news to date in the CKD era.

Nothing negative against JM here. But until the other QBs start pushing him, we'll never know if we are getting an improved JM or simply an inherited role cause nobody could beat him out.

If TS is showing this kind of improvement it will help push JM to improve a lot too OR it lands JM on the bench where he might have time to improve more ala Jalen Hurts in 2018.

And, the word coming out of T-town is Austin Mack is a raw, but improving talent who has a very, very high ceiling.

Perhaps the "biggest" news is that maybe DL is not #2 or #3 and maybe is more like #4. If the eyewitness accounts we've heard from are accurate, he's probably our strongest portal entree contestant at QB this spring.

Except for 2017.

Tua eviscerated the 1st and 2nd string D’s all spring, summer, and fall in 2017 and didn’t take over until 30 mins left in the season.

But yes *usually* the clearly better QB can take an incumbents job.

I’m honestly not sure what CKD will do if it’s close.

But if he thinks anyone in the room is even slightly better and chooses them he will earn my respect right off the bat for having the guts to make such a potentially controversial call.

QB isn’t the only position in recent years where the best guys were on the bench.

I mean Henry being Yeldon’s backup…lol

The Rideouts all came off the bench in 2017 as well as Najee.

Last year Justice already looked like he was clearly the most talented RB and he barely had any meaningful touches.

Sometimes the better player has been on the bench for inexplicable reasons.
Let’s just say, reasons that everyone on this forum who isn’t at practice every day, or doesn’t have a direct line to the coaching staff, will only know when it’s revealed by someone who does.

Mac Jones beat out Tua in A-Day 2019, but Tua started and was the QB until he got injured.

A statement like this is the reason we should never read "too much" into A Day game results. Mac was never going to take a snap for a healthy Tua as long as he was at Bama.

Remember who looked "best" last year?

If anyone judges milroe in a scrimmage where he is down when he is touched, they have and never will learn this lesson.

Im very happy to know our qbs seem to be progressing well and competing.

If I had to guess he was the most sacked qb in the sec last year and probably high up there for most in the country. He didn’t have the best scrambling ability and Ty is dual treat also so it effects both of them.

Man, we have taken the old “the most popular guy on campus is the backup quarterback” thing to unprecedented heights this spring.

I don’t know if Milroe will start or be successful in CKD’s offense. I recognize that he has flaws as a pure QB. I recognize that this is a completely new scheme.

But good grief folks, he accounted for over 3,000 yards and 30 TDs last season. Only had 6 INTs if memory serves. Those are not “winning in spite of the QB” numbers, even in today’s game.

Some of y’all act like he didn’t make a single good play last season and was a complete liability at all times.

I was a student at UA from 2003-2006, and attended a number of Dubose-era games before that. I’ve seen bad-to-awful QB play at Alabama. Milroe ain’t it. We’ve been spoiled by a run of high draft pick QBs and Milroe is probably not that - but it’s not like we are trotting Brandon Avalos out there.
Well said, we will find out if TS wants to play QB at Alabama as bad as his supporters do.

Close - 4 teams gave up more sacks than Bama did.

According to PFF, JM had the 6th worst pressure to sack ratio in D1 so yes, the lack of scrambling ability/elusiveness/pocket presence was a significant contributing factor to that, especially considering that JM also had the slowest snap-to-release time in NCAA (PFF).

I haven’t seen that last stat you referenced, but I’m not shocked. It seemed like he stood back there forever on many plays. I would be yelling throw it or run more than I can to remember. Hope he gets that taken care of. I’m pulling for him.

The problem is that Milroe doesn’t really run enough to even be considered a true dual threat. He is far more of a pocket passer. If anything I would say that the quarterback hampered by the black jersey is TS and not Milroe.

Milroe kind of seems to have a hitch in his throwing. He looks quick then if it is covered he isn't sure where to go.
