Didn’t he do it twice in the SEC championship game?

From what I remember, Milroe had two illegal forward passes against Auburn. One was after running beyond the line of scrimmage then returning to behind the line of scrimmage before passing.

That was the sequence. The AU qb had one also. It stuck out because how many times do you see 3 illegal forward passes in the same game.

I also watched Milroe a lot last year. Fun is not the word that pops in to my mind. It was another F word. Let’s see… Frustration. Ya that’s it.

I don't disagree at all about JM's likeability and contagious spirit.

However, I will point out that TS was a coach's son who was not "born with a silver spoon."

FWIW, I really don't care who starts as long as, in the judgment of CKD, the BEST QB starts.

It was truly an ugly game. Of all games for this to happen, it was the one!

We really had no business winning the game at all except that AU was worse than us even in this game!

I think Milroe is locked in as the automatic day 1 starter with slack in his leash. However, I do see Simpson in games like Western Kentucky and other blowout games getting more reps under CKD than Saban. However, if Milroe starts making the same types of mistakes he made last season, the slack in his leash will be tested because CKD KNOWS he can't afford an 8-4 season in year one or the vultures will start circling, be it right or not, they will.

If those things can't be done in the 1st couple of games, I doubt they'll suddenly appear against Wisky and Georgia.

I'd sure like to know for sure which QB is the most competent by week 3.

Oh no doubt, we'll know in the Wisconsin game for certain whether or not he's improved on his blind spots or not. I don't think we'll have to wait until the UGA game. But I also think CKD's quarterback whisperer abilities and his offensive ingenuity will improve Milroe's blind spots to at least be acceptable. Because at the end of the day, with his type of athleticism, I can understand why CKD wants to give him every opportunity to succeed.

And many thought it was just because our receivers weren't as "fast" as years before but that's been debunked this offseason. Too many reports of how fast our wrs are and they weren't just talking about the incomers. Kendrick Law "AIN'T" slow and can flat-out fly, he always has been blazing fast. But when you're throwing late or behind the wr, it appears they aren't getting open when in reality they are.

He’s got to be decisive, throw or run. Move the line of scrimmage in the desired direction on every play, or at least not backwards.

I believe CKD can work in some easy stuff, but he’s got to continue building on that foundation or the SEC will find the cracks and shut Milroe down when it matters.

I think it's fluid.

If JM can't show a real command of the offense and make the plays in games 1-3, I sure hope we aren't entering the Georgia game starting him.

It's hard to consider that, but that's how important QB play is in the modern game.

I think we're going to see a HEAVY dose of our running game the first part of the season. From what I'm reading and hearing our OL and running backs will be the strength of the offense, at least to begin with. If we can run the ball and run it well, we're in business.

Agree. That could be the saving grace if the QBs are struggling. But eventually they'll have to pull their weight.

I think they ultimately will. But look at what a strong running game did for Michigan. They were so good and disciplined at it it took a ton of pressure off of McCarthy until he got more comfortable putting the game in his hands. We know CKD runs a very sophisticated blocking scheme and always has been able to run the ball within his offense. So I'm optimistic.
