Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama v. WKU...

You think Williams was open on the second throw?

I want Jalen to throw to the middle of the field as much as anyone, but not if they aren’t open.
I do. Because he was wide open both times. After he caught the 2nd one, he then ran into traffic. But he was open. Here's a screenshot of him catching the 2nd one. IMG_0752.png

Overall it was an exciting night at BDS. The crowd seemed energized the entire game. I believe it went as well as we could have hoped.
Considering it was a Head Coaching change, a mostly new staff, a lot of transfers out and in, and just being a first game of the season... it was a wonderful night!
63-0 over an overmatched but not terrible team is always good.
Probably 10 of the remaining 11 teams will be more difficult, but I believe we are in good hands.

Did you see his sly grin after the PI? It's like he thought it was funny. I'm sure it probably embarrassment.
That PI I’m not even sure about. Sure , he had his hand on the shoulder of the receiver, but the receiver gave him an arm bar first, and the ball was high.
I definitely blew that memory for sure. Indeed he was.
the camera was slow to pick it up live from the high end zone angle , it looked thrown into double coverage, but as you can see from field level end zone camera he was wide open.

Wait, did you just put that loss to Texas on the defense?
Didn’t “put the loss on anyone”, just noted how the game developed which was relevant to the poster’s comment. Obviously, Jalen made 2 major contributions to the loss leading directly to 10 points, including a gift of 7 4th qtr points - we are all well aware. The D gave up 450 yards, including 3 TDs in the 4th, 2 of which were immediately after the Bama offense scored via the passing game to go ahead or pull within 3. IMO, the D was disappointing at crunch time - my guess is that they and CNS would agree.

I've watched the game twice and both Simpson and Milroe showed good things and bad. Milroe showed improvement in staying in the pocket and going through progressions but still holds the ball too long. Simpson made an utterly dumb decision to throw a ball that never should have been thrown. One play he didn't step up in the pocket rather than bailing to the outside. IMO, Simpson still processes his reads faster and the ball comes out faster. Before the Milroe fan club goes nuts I'm not saying Simpson should have started, I'm saying one aspect of his game looked better than Milroes.

The stats can't be compared. By the time Simpson came in the score was ridiculously out of hand. So we weren't running or calling the offense with the same aggressiveness as we were in the first half.

Wisconsin and UGA will be the real test for our QB/QB's, offense and defense. The good thing is the QB position is in good hands. Both Milroe and Simpson can run the offense well enough to put us in a position to win. Clemson can't say that.

No hate at all, I thought both QBs looked good and agree wholeheartedly that ty seemed to process a touch faster. I like ty, I do... Not a blind Jalen fan.

But the team literally scored every fourth snap with Jalen at the helm. That's just crazy.

I was frustrated with the speed that Jalen processed, but he was dealing with a little more adversity than ty too, so it should be taken into account imo.

I did not watch the game but I can read stats and 139 of Jalens 200 went to one player.

True but to be fair, he was the first read on one throw. He was open. Jalen delivered a touchdown ball. The second throw to Williams was a great run through progressions and ball delivery into the middle of the field that Ryan just made additional magic happen.

On first game watch, I was frustrated. I thought the offense looked a little herky jerky... But there was a reason for that I think that became apparent on second watch.

End of the day, every fourth time we snapped the ball with Jalen at QB, we scored. Hard to argue with the results, but also hard to glean much useful information from that as well.

I like both our options at QB. I thought ty looked "sharper," but he also made some bad throws and should have had one picked off except for a dubious roughing call (even with crimson colored glasses).

If there is a complaint about the offense last night from me, it's that Elijah Pritchet still isn't ready to be a starting LT. But he was thrown into a tough situation.

Jalen and Ty got the same number of throws. Jalen got 200 yards out of his... To go with 80 rushing yards.

Anyone who thinks Ty runs this offense "better" is watching a different game.

On top of that, Jalens o-line started as a completely different line than he has practiced all of fall with. Remember, proctor was injured during warmups, throwing pritchet in late (who also hasn't been practicing at LT this fall). Ty got to play with the line he's been practicing with all of fall and spring. So some nuance to be observed in this game I think.

I was frustrated by the early hiccups as well, but reflecting back on the reality of the situation, Jalen had a game. Ty did too, but the numbers are distinctly in Jalens favor.

All due respect but their touches and yards just might be different because Jalen never snaps the ball without being surrounded by 1st strings players who he’s also had the most reps with.

Ty is always surrounded by 2nd and 3rd string players.

Even at Alabama there is a big difference between 1st and 2nd/3rd string.

Not only that, Williams was not the first read on both TD plays according to Deboer.

Something kinda bugging me with what everyone has been saying about Jalens throws... so what if he WAS the first read. If the first read is open, throw it to the guy!

(That would be considered the correct read, no?)

Minor minor gripe.

Processing speed is something Ty has seemed to always do better. It showed in the A Day game. But either way, if Jalen struggled with it against WKU he'll face much faster defenses in two and three weeks. I think it is something CKD and staff will address and continue to work on with him. But he has GOT to get faster at processing in the pocket for us to compete against legit SEC teams.

Fair... Although Jalen was missing his starting LT last night.
