Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama v. WKU...

Processing speed is something Ty has seemed to always do better. It showed in the A Day game. But either way, if Jalen struggled with it against WKU he'll face much faster defenses in two and three weeks. I think it is something CKD and staff will address and continue to work on with him. But he has GOT to get faster at processing in the pocket for us to compete against legit SEC teams.
Agreed. Although I did see improvement in the game. Maybe just more decisiveness overall rather than processing.

Jalen does bring a completely different set of skills to the table than ty, and I think that's why he gets the full confidence of coach. It's a skill set that opponents absolutely have to gameplan for. Ty can run, but Jalen can outrun your whole defense at any given moment and that's a hard trump card to keep in your pocket.

Many times it depends on the direction of the dislocation (anterior or posterior) and the amount of damage to support structures. Still I would not expect him back for a few weeks at the earliest. Hate it for him.
97% are anterior. The shoulder is built pretty robustly to resist posterior. My wife's been through the anterior without needing surgery. It is weeks, though. If it's pushed with a young person, it can become a lifelong unstable shoulder, necessitating eventual surgery. OF's shoulder tissue doesn't stretch like youngsters. When I kayaked the Grand Canyon, we encountered some small rafters and one of the kids had a dislocation, got it the first day on the river. One of our group was an MD. She told him not to even think about paddling or rowing for at least six weeks. I thought he'd cry. He figured he'd take a couple of days off and go back to it...

For what its worth, Kiffin got him a senior college grad girlfriend when he first got to Ole Miss. This many years later he is still with her. Got to be some kind of record for him. Met her once, very attractive, what you would expect to see at Ole Miss. Its kind of weird but he has sort of settled down there.
Never thought I'd see it...

Do you think she trolls bars as Christina Brackwater????

Had a guy come in with an anterior dislocation of his shoulder. Took an AP view of his shoulder with standard neutral rotation. Orthro surgeon said, “see if he can supinat his hand for an external rotation view“. The old fellow rotated his hand and that shoulder popped right back in place.

I went ahead and took the film. Came out by the view boxes. The orthopedic surgeon said “you get the external rotation? I said “nope….I got you a post reduction film”. He just chuckled and said ”sometimes getting it back in place is as easy as rotating (supinating) their hand.

No doubt there was improvement. Going through his progressions was an improvement and Milroes explosive speed is definitely what gives him an edge over Simpson. A full season as the starter and the reps that go with it gives him an enormous advantage. He'll just need to better his processing speed against the better defenses so he doesn't run into another Texas and Michigan situation again where they had his number.

Just sitting here reflecting on the game last night, it looked to me as if when Ty was in the game, we picked up the tempo. I can see how we can use both Jalen and Ty and be effective. I’m a child of the Coach Bryant era where we would play a lot of players in the game. I remember being at games as a kid in the 70’s when he would run 11 out to replace 11. I think we’ve got a really talented roster and can play a lot of folks without much drop off. Time will tell.

I really like rotating guys in where we clearly outmatch the opposition, like on Saturday, but against SEC teams, I like the Saban and NFL mindset of playing your best 11, especially in the secondary and OL. It will be interesting to see how the rotation works in the coming weeks.

That’s the only reason he’s still on the field. If Jalen is processing at acceptable division one levels he threatens every square inch of a football field. Every square inch.

Overall, great win for a new regime’s first game. Very impressed with the explosiveness and the defense for the most part.

But it still looks like Milroe is an athlete trying to play quarterback. It’s like he cannot pick up on the nuances of the position. His vision down the field is still lacking and there are times when there’s a perfect pocket and he’ll panic and bail and take off running instead of continuing to scan and trust his OL and WRs. It might work against Western Kentucky but it won’t against Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee. I just have doubts that he can be a national championship winning quarterback but perhaps schemes and the talent in other areas of the team can overcome his deficiencies.

Look no further than the 1st play of the game. I was like, "Just like last year." I was just sure the first pass play would be a short, hot route that Jalen caught and got rid of in 1 second. But, no.

I'd really, really like to see JM doing more of what TS did in the second half. A more uptempo, dink and dunk offense that just nickle and dime the defense to death.

We aren't going to score every 4th play of the game again this year. It was a fluke. Probably wouldn't happen if we played WKU every game this year.

So we really need an offense that has big play capabilities (which we already have) but also one that can go on 15 play, seven minute drives too because some games just necessitate that type of play.

Okay, seriously folks, it was WKU. Saban beat these teams soundly as well. You really can’t take a whole lot away from most of these games in week 1 but, I’m sure some Auburn fans are buying NCG tickets right now.
That was a quote from ESPN.com. Didn't realize that part didn't post.

Yeah I thought Jalen did some good things on the Big explosive plays but I still don't have a lot of confidence that we can sustain drives when opposing teams take away the deep shots and/or put a Spy on him.

But as others have said we won't really have a good idea about progress until we play Wisc and UGA.

If we go 2-0 in those games then it almost certainly means he has gotten better. Fickell is a very good defensive mind and Kirby will take a different approach this time.

I was very impressed with Jalen's 2nd TD pass to RW though. It was the 3rd read on the play and he hit RW perfectly.

If he can consistently make Med range throws like that past the 1st-2nd read then other teams are in big trouble.

They will start 3-0 and the hype from the cow pasture will be like the CO hype from last year. Then they will go 1-3 over the next 4 games.
And when that times does arrive, the right reverend will then begin to recruit for next year and not take responsibility for what is happening. He's a 7-5 or 8-4 coach PERIOD.

Agree completely. I'm not ready to crown him for anything yet. He still has a lot of room to improve.

I get your point that there's nothing accomplished nor worth celebrating yet. But fwiw, WKU is not the traditional cupcake. Our spread was -31.5 while the Barn's was -48.5

2008 vs WKU 41-7 (12-0 regular season)
2012 vs WKU 35-0 (NC)
2016 vs WKU 38-10 (lost in NC game)

We were up 42-0 at the half, the largest halftime deficit in WKU's history

Most advanced stats rankings now have us number 2 because we dominated a decent & experienced lower level opponent. It is more impressive than was expected
