I still think we got the right guy (Coach DeBoer)

DeBoer is unqualified for this job.
He has never seen the trench warfare that the SEC imposes, which is a far cry from PAC12 cream puffs.
And the NIL/Portal only makes matters worse.
There's no other conference like the SEC, so if having SEC experience is really that important, then we would've been stuck with Mark Stoops. This is just his first run through it. Sometimes there are failures at first. The thing that really matters is how you respond to it. We fell down, but we gotta give him the opportunity to get back up before we start saying this is proof he can't do the job. This team was never winning a national championship with Jalen Milroe as the QB. 5-2 is about on par with many people's expectations prior to the season. They just thought one would be Georgia, and not Vandy. I still think I'd rather have it this way than lose to Georgia and best Vandy. I do not like those bullpups.

I think we have to give CKD three years. He needs to clean house and be allowed to bring in his players and see if we can clear up some of the roster issues he inherited.

I think a QB who can run his offense and read the field and distribute the ball as asked and as needed would make us much more effective and consistent. We don't have that now.

While the coaching staff has to improve, I still think we are limited by our roster and learning the new systems. I think we were overly optimistic about rebuilding a team with our limitations.

Where the land meets the sky
I for one didn't expect for us to be undefeated this year. We were starting to sow cracks in the Dam since 2021 and it may get worse before it get's better. With Texas losing yesterday I think we may have to settle for a bowl game unless UGA takes another loss. I'm going t say it again, it may get worse! We are going to have to give him at least 2 or 3 more years to change the direction that we started heading a few years ago. I would rather him get the chance than someone like Napier or Norvell. RTR!

He stepped into some massive shoes to fill, plus if the things JMcrimson outlined in the post-game thread are even 50% true, then it's more than just following Saban. There is definitely something not right about the team's demeanor, and it won't be fixed until DeBoer has all of his own players, I suspect.

I will judge him on addressing the penalty issues.

EVERY little edge is imperative in the SEC. He’s lost two games and penalties were a factor in both. Maybe he could get away with that where he’s been, but the teams in the SEC are very close to each other talent wise now and giving away yardage is stupid.

Be a player’s coach: sit them on the bench next to you and let them talk their feelings out.

The blatant disregard to doing things with class and character are a reflection of leadership or lack there of. Leadership begins at the top. Even 18-24 year olds need leadership not another friend. They already have enough of those. They need leadership!

For me, the years of DuBose, Franchione, Price, Shula are painful in my memory. Young(-ish) fans who have known nothing but the glories of the Saban years may be ready to get back on the "new coach rollercoaster," (1. New guy comes in, 2. everyone is optimistic saying "this guy is going to right the ship," 3. he runs into difficulty, 4. all is despair, 5. Bama let's him go or he quits, 1. new comes to town, ... etc., etc., etc.) but I am not. I will give Coach DeBoer a chance until he gets his coaches and his players in place playing the way he wants.

Tennessee spent a decade and a half on the "new coach rollercoaster" before Heupel seems to have righted the ship up there. It was fun to watch, but I do not want Alabama to go through that again.
Patience is the order of the day.
Totally agree. Lived through that and don’t want to go back.

Do I wish our coach was tougher like Saban and would dress better? Probably, but he’s not Saban.

Class and Character? What has he done that doesn't have those characteristics?
Not a thing other than the product on the field. Continual mouthing with the opposing team, kicking the football when it set for play, shoving an opposing player. There appears to be no consequence for behavior. Class and character! It starts at the top.

How about disrespecting Vandy during practice leading up to the game, then in the center of the field at the coin toss? Total lack of class. After the game, when I heard that the players had done that, I was glad that they lost.

A team that acts like that does not deserve respect. They deserve to lose. These kids believe the LANK stuff. They believe that they have arrived. It makes me sick to watch.

Personally, I think we may have a couple of QB's that could run DeBoer's office. In my opinion, Milroe isn't one of them.
