I do think it is possible that Ty is better but just not good enough to bench Milroe who clearly has been a leader within the team. Idk. It's all guessing at this point.

I do think we should maybe temper expectations for Ty if/when he does start though. Maybe others are right and he'll be a gamer when he gets his chance but I just wouldn't bet on it at this point.
Been a leader? How? Whenever the offense is on the sidelines he sits over by himself. A leader would be talking to his offensive line/running backs/receivers and trying to get on the same page. I don't see JM doing any of that.

I haven't noticed but this ^^^^ is starting to come up on a few podcasts I listen to and apparently more and more people are taking notice to it. Again, I haven't noticed it but I also haven't been able to watch entire games until after the fact where I skim through from one play to the next. I don't know if it is a big deal or not, if he does it when things are going bad then when things are going good he's sitting around his teammates watching the previous series on the Ipad. I don't know but I do know it's coming up more.

Meh, I think it is the reverb chamber. Talkers gotta talk about something and most of them have zero clue to no inside information. They are just making points from the cheap seats and incorporating hot takes from the echo chamber. Way too much so-called media doing nothing but opining to have a stance to talk about. I miss journalism man.

I mean, by all reports he works his butt off and gets the the facility really early to put in work. The players seem to be really supportive of him publicly even a new guy like Bernard has said some stuff publicly. He was reportedly a big part of keeping the team together when Saban retired. DeBoer made him a captain I assume for a reason other than to make Milroe feel good. He clearly must be doing something right on that front.

There was also a comment I think by DeBoer that he and RW have put in extra time together to try and get on the same page. And some criticized him for it but he did bring teammates together in the offseason at least one year to put in work together.

That was definitely the narrative going into the season, that Milroe was a vocal leader and a hard worker. With that said, and Saban talked about this last year and even on the Gameday set, that Milroe can be an emotional guy and needs to keep that leadership aspect going when things aren't going well. I think we've seen that on display this year. No idea if that's something he can fix for the remainder of the year, but if we have any chance of making the playoff I think it's kind of necessary.

There's more to leadership than showing up to the gym early.
Say what you want but you never see him on the sidelines with a headset on or looking at an ipad or talking to his offensive team mates or trying to encourage the defense, etc.
I'm quite sure that if the media saw him do these things they would be quick to demonstrate to the world what a leader he is on the sidelines.

For me it's either one of two things and one is not so bad and the other means we're in trouble at the QB position.

1. CKD, like Saban, is loyal to his starter and it takes A LOT for him to pull him.

2. Ty Simpson simply isn't good enough to trust with a series or two in a game when the game still matters.

If number two is the case we're in big trouble at the QB position and better hope Milroe comes back next season so Austin Mack and the new kid in the 2025 class can start developing.
Even if #2 is case (which is highly unlikely), i still hope Milroe doesn't return. We'd just have to go get a 1 year rental at QB. Maybe Quinn Ewers wants to return for his final year of eligibility. He'd be a major upgrade over Milroe, and we know he won't be back at Texas

The good news moving forward is Tennessee, South Carolina and UGA are the 3 best defenses we will face in the regular season. LSU is not on their level from a defensive standpoint.

The bad news is LSU's defense is far from the historically terrible one they had last year. They are probably in the ball park of Missouri's defense.

We will likely need our defense to continue creating turnovers to beat LSU. Nussmeier has thrown his share of INTs. He seems similar to Beck where he can be very hot & cold. When he is on he is hard to stop but when he is off he is throwing the ball to the other team.

Strange thing, but if GA had more game film on Tua, maybe we don't beat them in the 2018 NC game.

They were shellshocked by his performance in that game.
They had lots of film on Tua - they just spent all of their time prepping for Hurts.

coach deboer mentioned after the georgia game that they had been working on the type of throw that he and williams connected on for the last td

That would be interesting since i heard last night that arch is hitting the portal (more than likely)!

I'm guessing a bunch of folks clamoring for Ty forget that the recurring news out of spring / fall camps last year was that he can make all the throws but tends to try to 'hero ball' too much in practice, forcing throws, seemingly in an attempt to show he has the better arm.

All the more reason to play him. He knows the deck is stacked against him to win the job bc of politics.Once the job is his, he won't do that anymore.

I doubt you're saying that if he's out there throwing multiple picks.
But he'll have nothing to prove, so he won't be forcing it. Milroe was doing the same thing last year in actual games, and he got a pass for it. I believe greatly in Ty, and think he'll be the QB that gets DeBoer his statue, but don't really care who the QB is at this point, as long as it's not Milroe

That's not how 'you play how you practice' works but your Ty fandom is duly noted.
