P4 conf champs get 1-4, so OSU bumps down as Oregon is projected B1G winner.

This is what playoffs do.

When I was complaining about a potential playoff, one key part of my argument was that playoffs always grow, and they inevitably end up doing stupid things with automatic entrants and what have you. I specifically cited the time New Orleans had to go on the road all the way to California to play a team with a worse record.

Playoffs are always about inclusion, and that becomes automatic inclusion and once you get that you get to the real stupidity of teams getting in and getting better seeding just because they won a weak division or conference or what have you.

This is only the first playoff poll, it is going to change a whole lot between now and the final poll. I am willing to bet more than half of the teams currently in the poll will not be in the final poll

To be honest, we are already in the Wild Card of this thing. Every game going forward is a playoff game at this point. There is no margin of error after two losses. But one thing is for sure, we are gonna find out where this group stands in the next 4 games. Hopefully it's a pleasant surprise.

They never should have given the 1-4 seeds to the conference champs. That is the dumbest part of this system. If we must have auto-bids for conference champs...fine, but don't guarantee specific seeds for them. That makes literally no sense at all.

Yeah it's just way too heavily weighted towards being a Conference Champ and not all Conferences are close to the same strength.

As things stand now the SEC #2 and the B1G #2 are both going to be a Stronger and Better team than the ACC, Big 12, or G5 Champ.

The SEC #3 and #4 might even be better.

It's just a supremely flawed way to Seed.
