President-elect Trump's appointments

I don't understand why so many people are acting surprised at these appointments. They've been telling us for years exactly what they plan to do and now they are following through.

Political revenge has been at the top of the list for Trump so an appointment like Gaetz was 100% expected. He must replace the military leadership, the 4-star generals who are loyal to the constitution, with people who are loyal to him. That's the only way his plan to dismantle democracy will work. Acting surprised, especially if you voted for Trump, just tells me you haven't been paying attention.

"Gaetz has a better shot at having dinner with Queen Elizabeth II than being confirmed by the senate," said Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio)
Talk is cheap. When it comes time to vote these spinless GOP will fall in line with Trump just like they always do.

He's not a good person. He has done some bad things.
I don't expect him to be confirmed. McCarthy said as much on Bloomberg yesterday. Again, regardless of affiliation, I don't trust anything a politician says. But, at the same time, there are some who are not going to support this pick. Hopefully, enough will vote against it.

The bad news is either we get him or someone just as bad, perhaps worse, and Trump will have an active roll in determining who gets investigated and/or charged.

Yup, most will but hopefully a few wont and only a few may be needed.

If government was at the size and scope as intended, then having idiots wasting money and passing dumb policy would be little more than an annoyance to the citizenry. Yet we don't have small, limited government. We have Leviathan ($1 to Thomas Hobbes). So, those who advocate for big government have received their wish, and it's big, expensive, and dumb. We've been on the road that leads off the cliff for generations.

Keep in mind, Trump is pushing hard for recess appointments. So basically it will come down to whether John Thune cooperates or not.

How can he appoint anyone if he isn’t president? He can certainly put forth his ideas and the Senate can start vetting them but they can’t do anything official until January 20.

Austin was such a powerful leader that he went into ICU for 3 days and didn't bother letting the President know. Of course, when you go from Oct. 2023 until Sept. 2024 without convening a cabinet meeting, he must have thought it was ok.

But as Republicans move to hush Gaetz’s sex trafficking allegations, others note that this mess is likely far from over. “Mr. Gaetz’s likely nomination as attorney general is a perverse development in a truly dark series of events,” tweeted John Clune, the lawyer representing the underage victim. “We would support the House Ethics Committee immediately releasing their report. She was a high school student and there were witnesses.”

RFK will likely be a complete total disaster.

An unqualified anti-vaxxer who doesn't know the first thing about health.

He has already said the NIH should spend 50% of its cash on "alternative treatment" research. We don't need research in this arena. It has been done.

And so many other things...

I've been in healthcare for almost 30 years and this is like setting off a nuclear bomb under us.
