Dude, I don't live on here and read every thread and post. Sorry if I offended you. I was just making an observation. Is it bad to want really talented kids raised in Alabama to play for the University? But that romantic idea of having folks playing with pride for the home school is dead and gone I suppose.

Didn't offend me. Its just a case of the "poor mes"

Imagine if offord had been committed to us for a year just to throw our hat in the crowd at a Birmingham school. Because he did that to Aubie today and its hilarious.

Instead we went to cali and got lee and McDonald, who both had the same potential, and despite rumors neither of them even blinked.

Caring more about the folks that wanted to go elsewhere IS offensive, to folks who WANT to play at Bama and don't need a 7 figure guarantee even though they've never played a down in the sec.

And im sorry, I shouldn't have come off so rough. Its just Tireing to hear barn propaganda working so well with our own fans.

But how can you argue with this? Ultimately its bout the Jimmy and Joe's and when we're pulling the #1 recruit in states like California, Texas and Florida, we really don't have problems.

You can't, and pulling that kind of talent is impressive. And probably the idea of getting local kids who might care more because their roots are in Alabama won't hold up because they'll just transfer out or take a higher NIL package somewhere else before it's all said and done. I was just making an observation when I realized our highest rated guy in the state was 15 and it looked like a pretty good year for talent in the state.

I wish kids cared more about state pride and things like that as they did a long time ago. But unfortunately, an Alabama kid is just as likely to spurn the school as a kid from out west. They're looking out for numero-uno and state pride isn't a part of that equation anymore. Sure, you'll have an exception to the rule come along from time to time. But overall, they're only concerned about their playing time and their money.

It's wide open now.

On a brighter note however a lot of kids been growing up past 17 years watching Bama dominate. Watching nation wide so hopefully thats helped create a desire too play here in the hearts of more than just in state kids.

There will always be in state that choose Bama or Barn because they love those institutions, but now the enticement of money comes into play and many will go to who's paying them the most.

Unfortunately.

If they did then Alabama would get far fewer great players from other states.

All major college programs recruit nationally.

Take #1 ATM Oregon.

You know how much top HS talent the state of Oregon produces every year?

They just flipped the top player in this years Alabama crop.
Hope N.O. likes rain cause he's about to experience long periods of it. Lol

Has Oregon ever had a recruiting class as good as this one? I see they're currently ranked #4, right behind us. I don't remember their name ever being up there like this before.

N/M, I see they were #3, #9, #13, #6, and #13 over the last five years so they have been pretty consistently high over the last few years.

I see Auburn completely cleaned our clocks on in-state recruiting this year.

They got 9 of the top 11 kids in Alabama. Oregon and Ohio State got the other 2.

We recruit nationally, yes, but we didn't sprinkle in a lot of in-state guys this year at all.

Hopefully that changes with our staff making more connections from year to year.

I wouldn't worry about it.

And I see we got 2 DL's and 2 Edge players.......how's the DL looking for next year? We need a couple of gamechangers on the DL.

I understand your view but we had 3 or the top 10 until the Barn flipped two and one went to OSU ($). The Barn staff played on the minds of the Alabama recruits by telling them Bama just wanted and careed only for the Cali kids. You have to remember we had a whole new staff that did not know most of the kids, parents and high school coaches. In-state recruiting will improve once relationships get better established and is already getting better with a couple of good in-state players already committed in the '26 and '27 classes.
I have made two long posts on this topic. Like Poke, I am over it.

We will look at the portal and develop players we have along with the incoming class.
In the meantime,
Renaud, James Smith will return. Both will be really good next season
Edric Hill shows some flashes in limited role.
Overton hopefully returns and makes it his $ year.
Osborne will hopefully gain the weight needed to play DL.
Faga is only a freshman.
