Given the current system, guys are putting their names out there to see if they get any bites and how big the payoff is gonna be to get them to transfer. We're doing it too, which disgusts me but is how the game is being played until somebody, somewhere, with integrity and intelligence makes it stop.

5 years ago, if we had a brainstorming session to come up with the most vile, corrupt, stupid system, collectively we could not have come up with something this bad. Kudos to those who bear the responsibility.

College sports are just becoming pro sports but the players can only sign for 1 year no multi year contracts handed out. Everyone becomes a free agent in the Winter portal and then can again in the spring portal.

You say that but other programs are lauding it because there seems to be more parity and it's not just us and uga having all the fun

I already miss the old days when no one could whip us

I don't want to hijack this thread, but this has been covered TOO MANY times and it has become a societal issue too. Just because you disagree or disapprove of someone doesn't equal "hate."

To keep this "topic" on the football board I'll just say there are plenty of guys on this board who have repeatedly listed the reasons why JM has cost us big games (and "little" ones...which there is no such thing until they keep you out of the playoffs).

He's a nice, smart, well spoken young man who simply struggles to do basic QB things that translate into his team winning consistently. Yeah, when you get "good Milroe" we might beat anybody. When you get bad Milroe we can't beat an OU team that was lifeless all year long!

But the point is it's not about hate it is about recognizing he's had perpetual weaknesses that kept us from being a great football team two years in a row now. Yeah, we won the SEC last year and he contributed but not nearly as much as the lifeless OL we had last year (and this year) who seemed to wake up for one game and put it together.

He can run like a deer, but a QB's main job is to understand the offense (we didn't run CKD's offense this year - see comment about Penix below) and to distribute the football to the skill players all over the field. And those 20 rushing TDs? How many of those came at the expense of our running backs? There's a reason many people say JM is a running back rather than a QB. Stats seem to back that up.

We've had two years of tape on JM and he CAN NOT do basic QB things at a high level. Many problems from fundamentals (footwork/throwing mechanics), field vision, slow trigger/decision making, failure to go thru professions, inaccuracy, touch, and others I'm sure I'm missing have been discussed ad nauseam.

It's not hate. It's just that he struggles to do what 99.9% of the population would struggle to do which doesn't allows them to be a high level QB. But most of us don't call ourselves QBs because we can't do those things.

I wish JM nothing but the best. I hope he can follow Jalen Hurt's path to overcome some of these weaknesses and play in the NFL. NFL execs pay guys with JM's weakness millions of dollars every year in the draft hoping to find a diamond in the rough.

But for us and CKD, it's time to have a QB in CKD's system that can run it the way Coach envisions it. Last year Penix threw for almost 5000 yards. Jalen barely threw for half of that.
I have defended JM here. Your assessment of JM makes sense. What is difficult to understand is; why, how a CNS or CKD did not come to the same conclusion.

I don't understand all that went on the last couple of years, but I think it's well known there was locker room drama that caused division on the team.

And then CNS, the GOAT, retires and a new coach has to try to make sense of it all.

IOW, JM starting at QB the last two years likely didn't totally have to do with his play on the field.

what happened when Saban benched JM? How did the team, and specific players respond?

what did the team do when they returned home?

What did CNS 'announce' after that?

Further - what off the field entity did/does JM have a control of? Were certain players benefiting from that entity. Were those players among those who we involved the most in all of the above and/or the most vocal during/after the benching and after effect?

I mean, how are people still not knowing/understanding this?

I know people struggle with "conspiracy" and admittedly after the USF game last year it was very conspiratorial, so to speak.

But man, after all the leaks and watching this unfold, it's so "out there" now I don't understand the misunderstandings some keep asking about.

So is Dear the real deal?

I know we never really established the run because we had JM stealing touches and an OL that really struggled, but after seeing our back this year, I'm not sure there a real "star" among them. I hope I'm wrong, but at the beginning of the year the RBs were considered a great strength.

So might we look to the portal for a real, proven, game changing type back?
We haven’t had a really good running back since BRob left town.

We definitely had better ones before BRob, but BRob was pretty good and much better than any we’ve had since. Gibbs could have been good, but seeing him play with Detroit makes it clear that he was misused at Bama.
IIRC, CKD wants to have a running attack, but we've got to get the right QB in place to run his preferred system.

I'm firmly in the camp in the modern era of football that "You have to pass to set up the run."

When we get the passing game going that CKD envisions, it'll open up running opportunities that our running back can exploit.

And not that your legit point needs any validation, but once again, all one has to do is look back to @USF last season...

I mean, forget about "hard to watch...", witnessing the culmination of the mutiny in real time left one genuinely believing that their eyes were deceiving them...
