Yeah, I read about that:Windy as hell with a bomb cyclone. Landing in Reno was "fun".
This powerful weather system is set to batter at least a dozen states with a potent mix of snow, ice, and blizzard conditions, accompanied by winds gusting up to 40 mph, creating treacherous travel conditions and potential power outages across a vast region.
“For some, this could be the heaviest snowfall in over a decade,†NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center warned.
And where it’s too warm for snow and ice, the storm could conjure up severe thunderstorms, including in some of the same areas still recovering from December’s deadly storms.
Weather critters here are hedging their bets. The iPhone weather ap says 13 inches of snow. Weather.com says 1-3 inches, then an hour later, it says a dusting and sleet/snow mix.
Here, it's just cold; I hope not like the last two winters. Last winter, we had two nights in a row of 2F+, with a high of 9F between. I can drain the 100' water line from my shop and usually do. I didn't last winter. I relied on heat lamps, which wasn't enough. I didn't know it until I turned on the water this spring and foolishly didn't didn't check the shop. When I did, it was 2" deep in water. Did a lot of damage. Anyway, I just took out the seldom-used sink and plumbing, I not only drained the line to the outdoor faucet, I attached one of my air compressors to it and blew any remaining water out. Then, this afternoon, I thought of the little water heater. I ended up dragging it out of the shop and draining it. (Had to be outside, because there was no bottom drain.) My back feels it, but now there's not a damned thing up there to freeze. Now, to drip the vulnerable pipes...Weather critters here are hedging their bets. Pretty much what I predict for the Shenandoah Valley is cold. Beyond that, who knows?

7.5 inches in Louisville and Northern Ky...that doesn't bode well for you...Okay, now the NWS is predicting 5 to 8 inches of snow. Could be 9 to 11. Or maybe none.
Since I am feeling especially prescient, I predict Ohio State will win the championship this year. Or maybe not.
There. I'm a genius.
I'm fine, not having to get out in the snow (I work at home when I'm not in Europe).. It could snow three feet for all I care.7.5 inches in Louisville and Northern Ky...that doesn't bode well for you...
