This is a really interesting article:

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans

U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

I go offline for an hour to look for a job and my brother texts me about this.

As he said, "This makes Hillary's emails look competent by comparison."

It's almost like a clown who couldn't be trusted with classified information doesn't know jack squat about the necessity for secrecy. You see - he wants you to know how much more he knows than YOU do how much SMARTER he thinks he is than you.

I mean, every conspiracy theorist you know deep down is the same way - a narcissist.

I have no idea what the play is here but you don't 'accidentally' add a reporter to a Signal chain.

IMO the real issue is that isn't an approved govt platform for classified info. The use of Signal for this type of discussion, if real, shows a far greater flippancy wrt secret comms than one would expect from anything beyond a banana republic.

This is what happens with a DUI hire.

I've never used Signal or WhatsApp for anything, but when I was in the Air Force, we had absolutely clear rules about using personal devices for classified information, Don't. Ever. For Any Reason. (And I'll pre-empt the whatabout her emails, by saying that I felt she was wrong to do that back then.)

If you need them there are secure devices, secure systems, and secure locations. They are inconvenient, but I didn't care then and I don't care now.

She was.

But then again, it's not a problem for me to call this nonsense out because I said that then anyway. I know people who lost their careers over less than that, much less Mafia Don taking those documents down to Mar-a-Lago.

I know I'm gonna sound old, but when I was in the service, this would have had more heads rolling than the French Revolution.

Yeah, agreed.

FWIW, there have been rumors for years now that Signal is an NSA/CIA project.

Jeffries: This whole Trump administration is filled with lackeys and incompetent cronies. The Secretary of Defense who was on that chain has got to be the most unqualified person ever to lead the Pentagon in American history. You’ve put these people in charge? And then you want to attack others who are actually qualified?

Reporter: Can you share how your information about war plans was shared with a journalist?

Hegseth: So you are talking about a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who has made a profession of peddling hoaxes
Reporter: Yes, sir. Can you share how your information about war plans was shared with a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who has made a profession of peddling hoaxes?

First, why the heck is anyone discussion anything classified on Signal?
Second, all the guilty parties should know, never, ever, under any circumstances text with a journalist from the Atlantic. Nothing good can come from it. Like Stan McChrystal hanging out with an activist from Rolling Stone. What did you think was going to happen?
