Israel launches preemptive attacks against Iran (US bombs Iran)...

Oil prices down 7.5% AFTER Iran missile strikes on Qatar. That’s crazy, maybe there is a realization Iran can only punch at the air. Israel is seemingly firing at will from the air, US is out of reach. Iran can save a little face with the missiles aimed at the U.S. base, can go back and tell their people they kept their word, they struck back.

She probably embellished a little, but she wouldn’t be the first , on both sides of the aisle or in the White House to profit from politics. There was a guy on Reddit that posted stock tips by mirroring Chuck Schumer investments.

Thank you for your service - sincerely. And for those other veterans who post on this forum - I think I know who most of them are.

You must be proud of the Air Force's work on this mission. I mean - those B2 pilots.....talk about having the right stuff.

And to your broader point - some of this finger-pointing and attacking of others sickens me no matter what sides are involved.

Not sure if some realize we are all in this together and it doesn't matter who you voted for. It's how you carry yourself in society that counts.

I never worked around the B2s. I got the dreaded distinction of PRP IYYN. Nukes, deployments, and things that don’t exist were my main missions while I was in. I rarely worked with pilots… except Navy ones (wasn’t a fan of Navy officers in general).

But yes I’m proud of what the military can accomplish and the men and women who still sign up.

It’s more in response to how a lot of people are using the military as a prop to win an argument that I’m annoyed with. It wasn’t really directed at anyone in particular but ever since the parade there has been alot of MAGA has been going this route lately. Granted the left has been going “everything Trump does is breaking the law” route too. I have issues with both. But as a veteran I just hate being told how I should feel or else I’m not patriotic. So it rubs me a little harder than the whiners on the left do

I honestly wish more people could laugh at the absurdity of politics and be able to agree to disagree. But too many are just wired as though it’s a life and death struggle to be right for backing a bunch of people who they will never know personally and who don’t care if they are dying on the side of the road.

I think the board has gotten better when they started the new rules because we had too many people like I described above. I think too few Americans have empathy for the otherside. Too many Americans don’t have empathy for others in general.

Well my first thought was our attack was leaked to Iran in just enough time for them to move the uranium.

We cant succeed in justifying destroying all that enriched uranium because then how could we justify over $1T annual military budget? But we still get to show the American people we are acting tough by blowing some stuff up...

Also, I'm probably overdue for watching a rerun of Sum of All Fears...

Israelis only talk about civilians when it’s theirs dying. I mean when 94% of Gaza’s hospitals are inoperable and people are starving to death then I really don’t think they have this high moral ground of accusing someone of committing war crimes. It’s like the Nazis complaining that the Soviets are mistreating their POWs.

One thing I’ve learned watching Trump and a large chunk of his base are how many Boomers are all in favor of almost any war of the last 25 years, but they sure as Hell had a problem with the one war in which they themselves were supposed to fight.

I'm glad somebody said it.

Very few people know I was in the Air Force unless they've either known me all my life or served with me. It's not something I boast about, it's something I was essentially raised around. And I get VERY ANGRY when I see stuff (particularly from those who would never serve if their lives depended on it) saying stuff like "I'd rather my taxes go to a homeless veteran than a welfare cheat." That's because these folks aren't down at the VA or the American Legion, they make no donations to any veteran's groups, they don't go into nursing homes to visit vets on their last legs (or missing their legs), it's just the old "I'm gonna substitute this Unfortunate Group in place of this Unfortunate Group and glory be to me!" (The people who are REALLY involved with veterans groups - generally speaking - don't draw any attention to themselves at all).

What's funny is that I enlisted in 1992 and let me tell ya something: Jesse Helms's observation that Clinton is about as popular as AIDS in N Carolina was true in the military of that time, too. And the biggest issue was his devious (to be charitable) way of making sure he didn't wind up going to Vietnam but not having the stones to register as a conscientious objector. (Gays in the military wasn't "really" as big an issue as folks like to pretend it was; my Dad served with people he knew were gay in Vietnam, and so long as you didn't oppress morale, nobody cared). And it was an issue of principle.

But some of the same people I recall saying Clinton was unacceptable because of his draft history give a FREE PASS to Corporal Bone Spurs, who got out of service because he was rich. (Look - Quayle and Dubya PROBABLY did, too, but I'm hesitant to cast aspersions at someone's service even if it was in the Guard; someone who wants to be over the top with the military but ran like a coward when it was his time to go, he can go get bent).

As I told someone trying this: I'M NOT YOUR MASCOT FOR YOUR CAUSE!!!

So Trump was very annoyed this morning because both sides violated their agreement of a ceasefire (gee I think this is why you don’t announce it until it’s in effect). But it got the president so angry that he said a certain four letter word in public and he made a weird statement about Israel “dropping the biggest load we have ever seen” (he is referring to bombs but come on you got to be better at choosing your wording).

I get that ceasefires have to be agreed upon well before they are in effect but you don’t publicly say that or say it before both sides say it first because this is what inevitably happens.

He ALWAYS does that sexual slang nonsense on purpose.

Once upon a time, we were smarter than to elect Cliff Clavin's Evil Twin to high office, particularly when his only experience was declaring bankruptcy. (Has anyone explained to him he cannot do that with the national debt?)
