He may or may not. Unfortunately, he’s not alone in the Land of the Clueless…

it was stupid then and is stupid now. War inflates prices especially when that war is in the ME. So I don’t know why anyone thinks that they can control an expected rise in prices on fuel. It’s like they fear we are living in Mad Max because fuel prices rise when there is a war.

Not defending trump or biden here, but there's literally zero reason for gas prices to have climbed yet, except those using futures pricing to gouge customers.

It’s normal speculation by oil and gas companies in a time of war. I think Qatar and other countries in the region shutting down their airports and limited their sea transportation is justifying their speculation in their minds. Yeah they should wait for a more prolonged engagement but again people react crazy to big events in history (see 9-11 and Paris terrorist attacks). This is capitalism 101.

But Im just commenting on the belief that middle school threats is going to suddenly make them to bring the price.

Exactly. The oil companies always jack gas prices immediately when there is a spike in the spot price of oil and then delay a drop "waiting for the price decrease to work it's way through the system" whenever that spot price drops.

I don't think anyone is arguing that a rise in gasoline prices should not happen, just the timing of those price increases should reflect the reality of the COGS of your gasoline supply.

Iran has fired on US bases in Iraq and Qatar…. So much for Peace

Hopefully this is all of it, but we have a guy that just said “any retaliation would be 10x worse response from us” and a guy that is constantly echoing “regime change”. So we wait….

A report from US news sources and discussion of the cost and potential outcome of the war begun by Israel and continued by Trump. This in the US who is struggling to fund its debt.

Most of the ballistic missiles launched by Iran cost up to $1 million each. But intercepting each of these missiles costs Israel two interceptor missiles costing $2 million apiece. At such an extreme disparity, Iran likely considers each ballistic launch a success whether or not their launch hits the intended target, or instead destroys two Israeli interceptor missiles. Analysts report that the Israelis are already down to just days of supply on their long-range interceptors, the Arrows. And rebuilding stocks of advanced munitions are impossible while China maintains strict export bans on rare earth metals and magnets.

@Bazza I thought of you when I saw this article this morning. It’s typically what happens in a war in the ME so it’s expected but the fact Florida is the one that is reporting…

Gas prices in Florida
So according to that CBS article - prices went from $2.95 to $3.11/3.15 - and they use adverbs like "soar" and "surged"?

Talk about gaslighting.

Sigh.......this why no one trusts the MSM.....

I moved from Tuscaloosa to State College the week after the start of the first Gulf War. My budget for gas lasted about as long as the Iraqi front lines...

Well our president is the king of gaslighting and over exaggeration… i guess that is why all the non MAGA folks don’t trust a word he says….

Honestly I think we are to the point where it’s a given that everything right or left has special language to promote a point of view. So it should probably be an expectation that once you click on something that it’s going to have a degree of bias… probably more. I just listed you because “gas prices” and “Florida” I really wasn’t trying to make a point in it.

According to the New York Times, Iran coordinated the missile attack tonight on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with Qatari officials and gave advanced notice that attacks were coming to minimize casualties, according to three Iranian officials familiar with the plans. The officials said Iran symbolically needed to strike back at the U.S. but at the same time carry it out in a way that allowed all sides an exit ramp; they described it as a similar strategy to 2020 when Iran gave Iraq heads up before firing ballistic missiles at Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq following the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by President Trump.

Would you prefer "gas prices rose 6.8% overnight"?

See, this is my problem: once a President snorts his huffy little nose and declares HE'S THE REASON PRICES ARE WHAT THEY ARE, he doesn't get to suddenly change his tune or blame the predecessor when praises shoot up overnight.

The Trump-ling sycophants who defend Diabolical Don have circulated for years a meme showing a Wal-Mart with gas prices on November 6, 2020 that is as based in reality as that meme of Nick Saban saying a team has no business playing for the national championship if they don't win the conference.

There's a reason MEMES like that are created - it's because pictures don't exist because it's a lie. Gas was not $1.75 probably anywhere in the country on November 6, 2020 except MAYBE a rural station in North Mississippi. The average nationwide was $2.11. And it was cheaper because a bunch of kids were still at home learning and a bunch of people were working at home, too.

It's just if you go back to November 6, 2020, you don't get ONLY the gas prices, you get everything.
- unemployment 6.7% (it's currently 4.2%)
- 1,185 people died from Covid (and another 228,497 tested positive)

And they used "soar" with President Pudding Brain, too.
U.S. gasoline prices soar to highest since 2008 on Russia conflict -AAA | Reuters

I don't trust the media, but I don't trust anything that comes out of the mouth of Donald Trump, even if his tongue is notarized.

I'm a "West Wing" fan, so I know "A Proportional Response" when I see one.

One other point: it's amusing how often the Trumplicans tell us "the media lies they can't be trusted" - okay fine.

But Trump lies, too, so (applying Trumplican logic) - why should I trust him?
That’s my annoyance in it. That and the constant subtle jabs like “you are anti America” “You don’t support our troops enough” and “He is the most criticized president in history” nonsense that they attach to remarks.

1/6 wasn't an insurrection.
that revolting picture of Jesus "hugging" Trump
Trump Derangement Syndrome allegations

There's never been another President I've seen folks line up behind and every legitimate criticism is still made in bad faith. I thought the Clinton fans were bad until the last decade. They were, but they're rational by comparison.

When I saw the "after" pix of the attack on Fordo, I had no doubt they were targeting the vent pipes - two groupings of three, pretty impressive for that ordnance and situation. They dropped a total of 14 and the other facility was a surface facility, so I'm not clear why it deserved this particular ordnance. At any rate, the bulk of them went into those six holes. Unless the Iranians took blast aversion measures, and why would they have, there is a good chance major damage was wreaked inside. I just hope the Mossad can sniff out where the almost half ton of highly enriched uranium is. One guy on TV said that they wouldn't need hundreds of centrifuges, just dozens, to go from 60% to 90%. That's where I run into a major gap in my understanding. I understand that you don't just throw chunks of uranium metal into a centrifuge. The uranium must be gasified by combining it with hexafluoride before centrifuging. Any gas takes up many times the volume of metal. So how did they removed half a ton of gas from the centrifuges before our attack? Perhaps they converted it back to metal before moving it? There's so much that's hard to understand...

I've read since that pix exist of 16 trucks lined up at Fordo before the attack. Maybe you can transport uranium gas in the centrifuge. That's beyond my knowledge. However, my gut feeling is that bad things happen if a centrifuge's operation is interrupted...
