Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama @ OU

Rewatched the game...we could have had 2 more INTs at least but they could also have had a couple of crucial big plays if not for drops...and there were plenty of OU cheap shots on players after plays etc...Venables coaching no doubt. We went into a shell up 10 and could have paid the price if their kicker could have made the FGs and applied pressure. I wish Grubb would keep the hammer down vs playing the clock game

He's still the best player on the team with the ball in his hands and still our 2nd leading WR and averaging the most yards per catch on the team. He's too talented to give up on. Hopefully in the offseason he can get whatever is wrong right.
I dont think we give up on him but I dont think we need to be paying him $2 million per year either. He'd take a major payout for next year if I'm the coach.

Maybe it was discussed in these 20 pages , but the pick 6 was great defensive call. Line up in cover zero, bail at the snap so Mateer throws to the hot route which wasn’t there , because the receiver saw the bail and continues up the route tree. I think it was a pick either way because #2 would undercut the flat route. Great film study on their part. Great call by CKW

I think I understand why we looked better on offense after we made it a game Friday.

Offense huddled.....broke huddle with about 15 seconds left on the play clock.....which is when the LB helmet mic cuts off.....so the adjustments couldn't come from upstairs.

Thats fine, I just hope its not us. Brooks deserves a HUGE raise in NIL money and I'd be more concerned about keeping him than Williams.
As someone said, "He's a head case" right now.

The talent is there. It's oozing out and ready to explode.

We saw it last year when he played as a "17 year old." He played without thinking. Sure he caught the ball with bad technique, but he caught it most of the time.

But I know we are also recruiting elite WRs who are built quite differently from him.

Time will tell. He needs to earn the money. I can't imagine anyone more motivated to "fix" himself in the off season.

If I were him, I'd be calling Smitty and asking if I could work with him during the offseason. They are remarkably similar in size and abilities. Smitty had a TON of God-given talent that he's worked to make better. I think RW has the same explosiveness as Smitty, but his "hands" have a lot of catching up to do.

iirc, venables baited tua in a similar situation early in the 2018 ncg

The problem. If you can get Ryan figured out. He will be a Heisman contender. He has that level of talent. I said this last year, his HS coaches didn’t do him any favors by allowing him to get by on raw talent and not holding him to basic receiver fundamentals.

I know he had a solid career at Alabama, But in some ways, RW reminds me of Linnie Patrick.

Wasn't LP more of a disciplinary issue with Coach Bryant, though?

Perhaps the comparison holds up (and it's what you're suggesting) in that LP never realized his full potential (with his off-the-field issues), similar to how RW, at this point, is holding himself back with fundamental problems that's got in his head!

But, good job of thinking about Patrick. He was from my hometown of Jasper.

Didn't he do that this past summer? 🤔
