I hate raisins. Major hate. But I really used to love A1 steak sauce. One day I found out they used raisin paste. I stopped eating the steak sauce, cold turkey.

I sure feel like I just found out that football has raisin paste in it.
So does CBB. It’s worse actually. This is a college sports problem not a CFB problem

Here is an article on Caleb. His HS, Parker, is a very good city of Birmingham program. We got a good one.
Thinking we are pretty close to having our DL situated. We now need some OL and LB.

Just to provide some context for what's going on, I will throw out some numbers I have heard. These are not necessarily accurate, but in the NIL era that's kind of how people arrive to their figures anyway, it's pretty much always someone said so and so cost this much.

Do not take these numbers as gospel, they are at best ballpark figures.
Reportedly Alabama offered:
Coleman 2 million
Smothers 750K
Peaks 500K

Those might be completely off, just saw someone say this. It does mean that in theory Alabama had 3 million+ allocated (which makes sense because Coleman was actually asking 4 and signed for 3, he wasn't coming cheap).

So in theory that does mean they could have enough money for Seaton who is asking 2.5 million (reportedly, heh). That of course begs the question of what exactly happened to kind of grind things to a halt for a while. Did something unexpected happen with the current roster to tie up more funds (Bray staying or the like), or was it just a value proposition where Alabama simply wasn't going to overpay (since based on those numbers they likely could have afforded both Peaks and Smothers by upping their offer)?

We just might not know until all the dust settles. I just know Alabama couldn't have gone after Coleman unless they did at least at the time feel they had money for a big portal addition. That doesn't mean that's the wise course either, but again following the logic it's not like they'd have tried to tie up all their money on Coleman either, so it shouldn't have been a big add or more pieces proposition, at least at one time they thought they had enough for both.
There is a 3 day break period right now so no campus visits. A few players are waiting til that is over and then should be visiting end of week.

I would like to add another DT, one more LB. a few more OL and 2 more WRs . That would solidify our roster for the time being. I'm fine with our RB room. Secondary is loaded especially the starting 5 who I believe are among the best in the country for 2026 season.

I think there is a lot of silent portal activity that will emerge over the remainder of the week to potentially prevent schools from resigning or replacing the lost depth. Very little being done above board in this era.
That's disappointing. He was making progress and seeing more playing time. Either he was tampered with more $ or wanted to start fresh as a starter.

So they just shouldn't try? Maybe they thought they had a shot due to the Derrick Nix connection. We were the only visit he took that isn't gonna play the crazy money game, so I'm guessing the staff was led to believe they had a shot despite not having the best offer. DeBoer and Grubb like having a big bodied receiver to go with the speedy ones, and we were missing that since Horton left. Colemen would've been a great fit, so you gotta try. It was no harm done here, because we got a receiver the next day, not quite as big as Coleman or Horton, but still a solid receiver with decent sizs.
There was always the chance that he would stay in state to be near family as was surmised that he went to awbern for lesser dollars.

Ya gotta at least try or many posters here would be flinging if we didn't...😎
