CONFIRMED Assists.: Steele, Thompson, Smart, Alles, Pendry, Davis, Middleton, (more)

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

Is the 600k something FSU can match/better. If not, is this his deciding factor or does a possible HC opportunity in the near future come into play with JF at FSU?

Would probably make Mickey Andrews jealous and want a raise too.

FSU is a big-money school also. They could probably match, it just depends on if they would want to spend that much. From what I've heard, what may be enticing to CJF for FSU is the possibility of getting the inside track to the HC position when Bowden retires. If that's true, I doubt they'd have to match us. If CJF jilts them now, I think he most likely wouldn't be considered.

True, that was what I was referencing earlier, but he also has to ask himself the question, "Where can I succeed the fastest?"

Theres a line from the Keys to Pensacola for the next in line spot.

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

Coach Steele was largely considered a very strong possibility to replace Coach Bowden at FSU. That doesn't mean that his coming here eliminates that possibility, but it does create an opportunity for Jimbo to go there (as opposed to here), turn their offense around, and snatch up that inside track at FSU.

I'll agree on the HC position when Bowden retires but the highest payed member on the staff is Mickey Andrews and he makes around 225, FSU has the money they just don't pay well.

haha.... LSU. that's where. Why would he need to be successful quickly? he just won the sugar bowl. Unless he just loves working for coach saban i see him going to FSU unfortunately. He is a FINE recruiter, and a very good play caller. he may rely a little too much on those wide reciever screens, but i like those. they're fun to watch.

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

You get the sunshine pumper award, Soldier. I hope you actually do know something.

He's not pumping sunshine. Go back and look at some posts during the coaching search and you'll see he was one of the very few who was saying that Saban to Bama was highly likely.

Would probably make Mickey Andrews jealous and want a raise too.

Now that's saying something. I'm pretty sure Mickey is their highest paid assistant and I get the feeling that what Bayou is saying is that it would be a considerable raise for him to get what Jimbo is being offered. This just keeps getting better by the minute! :biggrin2:

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

Yep, Chris Ball is gone. Harbison who was rumored to possibly be staying on is also leaving. Looks like he took another job (don't hold me to this) with Sly Croom at MSU.

Todd Stroud should be the next or one of the next coaches hired. (still has some NCAA hurdles to clear however) Other than that, I think everybody is waiting on Jimbo's decision. $$ numbers have been all over the place, but probably $450K - $500K a year is about right.

FYI, about FSU being a big money school. In 2005 Alabama made $43,500,000 in football alone. FSU by comparison made only $18,300,00. FSU isn't even close to being as financially powerful as Alabama. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Agree with Soldier and Rich that it looks like Fisher is leaning towards coming our way. Smart also seems to be firming up with Searels reportedly struggling with a decision between us and UGA. Also, don't know if it was posted earlier in the thread, but some heavy discussion going on about Cheese going to MSU.

I will probably go to hell for some of my Chan Gailey posts.

Seems like we discussed that via a PM once upon a time Rich. Just couldn't bring myself to mention Houston Nutt like a lot of others could.

Wow... if we land Fisher my head just might explode!

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

I know that Saban is going to go through his own process, but it is a huge loss if we fire Ball. He is the one guy, including Kines, that I would keep if I could only choose one from the current staff.

He is an outstanding recruiter, and an outstanding man. I know him somewhat personally so I'm definitely expressing a biased opinion.

Re: CONFIRMED Assistant Coaches: Steele, Thompson

My goodness, with Steele's resume in recruiting, possibly landing Jimbo Fisher, not to mention a head coach named Saban, Alabama's football program could quickly rival that of Southern Cal......Not jumping to conclusions or anything....
