It means we need to think "outside the box". "At the end of the day" we need to "keep moving forward". We should always be "pushing the envelope". I believe that Coach Saban has a "tremendous upside".

He gave us an example of taking ownership at the game last night not only is he going to coach this team he's going to contribute to it's sucess. He donated 100,000 to scholly fund. He wants each and every one of us to support our team and stand behind the program. Put your money where your mouth is not just in sports but in education also.

Perfect !!!

I would only add that we've probably had some fans who have jumped ship - to some extent as the result of our recent past . I believe that the door is being held open with CNS waving back in those who should and need to re-embrace the U of A . Get back on the train folks or else , the party will take off without you .:cool2:

We also need to give 110% and take things one day at a time.

to me it means buy more Bama stuff and wear/display it proudly; talk Bama up; keep the faith that they will win; show up at the games even if you don't have tickets and enjoy yourself; when Bama wins show class and don't taunt the competion fans; and last but not least, get out of CNS way as he works to bring Bama a MNC but that's my take on it.

Re: Do we know what he means when he says "everyone to take ownership of the team.."

If he meant "tell my wife how to do her hair," "tell me what clothes I should wear," or "tell me who to hire as assistant coaches," we're way ahead of him.

LOL, tell me about it. I think he is trying to subtlely tell people (especially the big boosters) to leave him alone and let him make us great again and not get into alot of petty squabbling. I think that Coach Saban will retire here if he is left alone to build us back up. We need to disprove the popular notion that Alabama fans are unrealistically demanding and let Coach Saban do his thing without our interference. As always just my opinion.:)

To me it means take pride in Bama, believe in Bama, defend Bama, love Bama you know, its like a vow love cherish for better or worst. do all these things he'll take care of the others. He's got a plan better than the last coach. the price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.

My team

As an Alabama fan, that statement meant a great deal. I didn't go to school at Alabama. I know a lot of fans didn't go to school at UA. Therefore, I always felt a little uncomfortable when I would hear fans say "we" when actually referring to the Alabama team (whatever the sport). I even found myself saying it sometimes. But, then would catch myself and tried to avoid doing that. There are also those who look down on fans who never went to UA.

Now, however, I feel like I can say "we" and hear other fans say it because we all do our part in many different ways to support the Tide. We all cheer for them, buy tickets and "Bama stuff" out the wazoo. We talk about them year 'round. And on and on. Since Saban said that, I feel a whole lot better as a Crimson Tide fan who didn't go to school at UA that I can say it is indeed "my" team.

Now, I need to go see if I can order season tickets...

Some of Bama's best fans didn't go to school there...

For me as a "normal fan", I think he means something along the lines of the positive attitude reminders he made at the first press conference.

I think it's a gentle reminder that it's not only about him. We all have a role. The best way for us to maximize success in our role as fans (in taking ownership, etc.) is to stay positive no matter what (if we truly believe he's the best man for the job), continuing to support the players no matter what, and have class when things don't go our way.

It might also include not getting our crimson boxers in a bind over what color shirt he was wearing when said statements were made

I think it means stand behind him and everything he does. I think changes within the system are coming. This may upset some people, but it is what needs to happen. I think it means being at the games from start to finish and making Bryant-Denney a special place to play. I think it also includes the understanding from everyone within the Bama nation staying positive regardless of next years outcome because this is going to be an complete overhaul. We may lose 3 or 4 games next year, but don't panic until he gets his system in place.

I thought I understood it the first time he said it... but now that he emphasized and repeated it more than once, I am not quite sure I do ... or am I putting so much thought into this???? any inputs ????
Yeah, if you are willing to wear bags on your heads - REGARDLESS OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TEAM - you've earned the right to watch a losing team.

It's that simple.

Re: Do we know what he means when he says "everyone to take ownership of the team.."

When you think of Nebraska what comes to mind? For me one of the first things that comes to mind is of the fan base and how classy yet passionate they are. What comes to mind when you think of LSU? Well, let's not be like that.

As fans we have things we should do:
Do cheer for the team even if they are having trouble
Do go to games and travel as much as possible
Do show respect for the coaches and players
Do show respect for the opponent

DON'T boo
DON'T throw stuff on the field after bad calls
DON'T kiss people when you're drunk
DON'T pay players

That sort of thing. When you think of a program more than just what's on the field comes to mind.

By the way, I use "we" all the time. It drives some people absolutely nuts. However, I went to Bama, was in involved in a varsity sport, and watch every game and go to as many as possible. "We" is fine. I also don't see why someone would look down on someone that didn't go to school at Bama.

I heard Bama is to be the next NFL expansion team and Saban is selling shares.
