Israel and Hamas continue to negotiate through mediators over the potential release of hostages from Gaza that would prompt another pause in hostilities, sources say.

Israeli officials obtained a document describing Hamas’ battle plan for its October 7 terror attack more than a year before the militant group carried out the assault, the New York Times reported Thursday, citing documents, emails and interviews.

The roughly 40-page document did not give a date for the attack, but outlined “point by point” the kind of deadly incursion that Hamas carried out in Israeli territory in October, according to the Times, which reviewed the translated document.

Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan, assessing that it would be too difficult for Hamas to carry out, according to the Times.

The document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” detailed an assault that would overwhelm fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and target key military bases. It was followed with precision by Hamas on October 7, the Times said.

Here's a fun thought exercise. What if the students were calling for the genocide of Arabic Muslim people, African Americans, or people of Asian descent? It would be a general call with no action taken and no individual singled out. Would those students still be in class at these schools? I sure hope the universities would take steps to remove them from the school because they don't want that kind of rhetoric coming from people representing their organizations.

One assumption is Netanyahu quietly wanted this war as a pretext to take over more land/launch an invasion into Gaza, and wasn't going to stop Hamas from planning and starting an attack. Maybe this is wrong, but maybe it is not. This could easily be a wag the dog type of scenario where you know your opponent is gearing up for an attack and you just wait for it to come back with overwhelming force which you wouldn't have the political cover for otherwise.

Or maybe he was just incompetent and focused on ripping up their judiciary for political gain.

Give them a 15 minute notice to come in and explain their understanding of how the Palestinians and Israelis got to this war, and how a cease fire mitigates the political problems between the Palestinians and Israel. Record it, and then tell them you will post in online unless they go and do some actual homework to understand this intractable problem.
