Link: Former Tide Player Charles Bediako Sues NCAA (Injunction) to Return to Bama

AJ McCarron said during his very short stint in politics that he knows there are groups coming together to create a private equity offer to take over the NCAA and that the reason the NCAA is acting incompetently is because they want this to happen. Of course, this doesn't explain why they've been incompetent for decades.

That’s the next lawsuit he’s gonna file. Bring it on is what I say.

What a BS statement coming from the NCAA who has already let international pro athletes take away opportunities from high school students.

It’s Bama and he didn’t have to fly over an ocean to get here. Notice how there was very little outcry about euro pros compared to this. If our name was Duke more media folks would be supportive.

I’m actually proud of CNO for pushing the boundaries of the new rules the NCAA created. They started this mess and CNO was like hold my beer. Burn their house down coach. It’s beyond time for the NCAA to die. I have wanted this toothless organization gone for over a decade now.
When you allow TJ Finley to enter into his 7th year of eligibility with his 7th different team, you may just want to sit this one out.

This is a very, very good read
Per the tweet:
"This is just my personal opinion, but as a legal matter I think the NCAA is responsible for digging their own grave here and the legal basis for Bediako's claim is reasonable. If the NCAA doesn't want Bediako to play, they need to also bar Nnaji, Paunović, and Jović, as well. The NCAA can make this a "one-time" deal, but to do so they need to start enforcing rules across the board. With NIL, state laws in California and Florida "broke" NCAA rules, but in both instances the NCAA had a chance to create reasonable rules and enforce them consistently, and their failure to do so is the ultimate reason this happened - not the lawsuits.I just don't see how the NCAA can argue that European professional basketball players can be a 22 year old freshman with no issue, but an American player who enters the draft and goes undrafted can't. NONE of these players should be able to play - but the line the NCAA has tried to draw seems legally untenable."

The example that won me over to CB's side (in regards to his case) was the player who was drafted in the NBA's First round (no. 31) but because he never signed with his team, I guess they didn't offer enough money or guarantees or maybe the Euro team offered more, He played pro ball in Europe for four years and was allowed to sign and play with a college team after!

Of all the things to be upset about in college sports these days, they pick this to become apoplectic over.
This is why I see them as little drama queens. They screamed so loudly for so long for players to be paid, and then for players to not be restricted on transferring. Because it wasn't "fair." They were told what kind of Pandora's box that would open, but no matter!

So now here we are. I'm pulling for Charles B. if nothing more than to hasten the complete burning down of all this farce.

What's funny, is that Kentucky's Roster is worth $20M this year. If the average salary is say $55K (see above) -- and there are 400 G-League Players. That means the entire G-League is spending $22M

Which is the pro league and which is not? lol
did not realize the G league guys made so little. I make more than them.

We pay college players now......they aren't amateurs. If they aren't amateurs....then they are PROFESSIONALS

They get paid a lot. Not just making advertisements or signing their names on gear.....they are getting huge sums of money just to play.

This NCAA basketball situation is the tip of the iceberg.

College basketball is just another G-league at this point.

What happens when a football player goes to the draft, doesn't make it then goes and plays in the USFL, but still has eligibility left?

What happens when a baseball player goes to the draft, but never goes anywhere but the minor leagues, but still has eligibility left?

I'd love to see the NCAA to say Bama playing Bediako voids any wins they get.....and then get absolutely sued into oblivion.

The College Football Nerds nail this. UConn, Auburn, and any program playing a euro league player needs to shut the heck up.

I can only hope that on Tuesday, if the injunction is granted, that as a part of that response the judge unequivocally states basically “you guys at the NCAA with your arbitrary rulings and use of waivers have placed this mess in my court. Get your crap together”.

I think the answer has to be All Pros or No Pros -- period. Arbitrary rules about what types of pros are okay and what types are not - -has to be over. What windows are okay, what windows aren't. 5 year windows, and 7 year players -- don't jive! Euro pros who make 10x what G-leaguers make. You can give up eligibility and go into the draft but ONLY those who never went to college can go back -- all of that is silly, and is going to blow up

Exactly.
The NZAA pretending that college sports is somehow amateur sports assumes I am a lot dumber than I look
