Who's watching the World Cup?

Soccer fanatics are low hanging fruit, like anime lovers.

I was reading an espn article about the reversal, their expert said that live action footage wasn’t used in the review and that could’ve made a difference during the game. He also mentioned that FIFA not giving a reason for the reversal makes it seem worse than it really is; that if FIFA just stated the review rules weren’t followed so we are overturning the red card, things would’ve gone over smoother.

Thoughts?

What you’re basically saying is “it’s like targeting only less stupid.”

So, you're just trolling people?

As for my thoughts on FIFA and their rules and decisions...it's a mess and always has been.

That’s what the ESPN guy said.

Former Premier League referee Andy Davies told ESPN that, ultimately, the right outcome has been reached by Balogun's reprieve.

"In my postmatch review, I spoke about not only the decision being incorrect, but the VAR process not aligning to protocol, as only slo-mo and still pictures were presented to the referee when asked to review the situation at the screen," Davies said. "Real-time footage should have been considered by the referee, and this was not the case.

"In my opinion, FIFA has reviewed the incident internally and felt that either the judgment to send off Balogun was incorrect, or the correct process to do so via VAR was not followed. But either way, this outcome feels like a pivot from FIFA using a regulation to add credibility to their reasoning. The decision lacks transparency and a credible rationale as to why a red card has effectively been overturned."

I said there needed to be blood or smelling salts involved for a red card to be considered.

What are you thoughts on ejecting players in football for spitting at opponents?

It washes off.

There’s a whole lot worse that can happen on a football field than getting spit on. Players play with urine and worse and guys have to tackle them.

Would I ever do it? No. Would I complain if the player got kicked? No. Would I complain if the player didn’t get kicked? No.

Edited to add that my response is in regards to playing professionally. I would not subject myself to an environment like that for fun or as a hobby.

We were slight favorites some places even without Balogun
Saw that and I figured it was due to home field advantage, which didn't help the Mexicans too much last night. I love this US Team and think we really have a shot but we need to see the result on the field as we have never gotten through the quarters. The odds of Belgium winning the World Cup are below ours today but they have explosive players on that side. I will be pulling hard for us that is for sure. This piece has a pretty good break down of this matchup:

I love the men’s team as well, but I’ll believe they can beat a good but not great European team in a game like this when they do it.
