Shugarts picks OSU as well. I never have liked OSU! Oh well, on to the next one. :biggrin2:

I hope for the sake of these big OL's (Brewster and Shugarts) development that OSU is recruiting some faster defensive players. OSU had a relatively disappointing class last year for having played in the BCS title game. I imagine they have adopted some of the basketball team's recruiting strategy.

From some of the stuff I've read (especially after Brewster's commitment) it sounds as if those two (Brewster & Shugarts) wanted to play together or something. Either way, they could potentially be quite the bookend tackles at OSU if they develop.

Re: 2008 Alabama Commitments and Prospects List

Anyone know if something is going on with T.J. Bryant or if scout messed something up during an update... Bryant is not listed with the other Bama prospects anymore and if you do a search and bring up his profile it doesnt have Bama listed in his schools of interest at all. Doesnt even show him with an offer anymore.

Don't know Sam, but I also noticed they bumped Chris Jordan's interest up from medium to high and dropped Tyler Love's from high to medium. Me thinks they may not know what they're doing, either that or they're trying to confuse everyone! Typical Scout stuff if you were to ask me.

as I just said in another thread, the "interest bars" or "levels" mean squat. If you really want to learn something, read a variety of interviews and articles.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was hinting at by disparaging Scout. I take all those things with a grain of salt.

Are we really recruiting Jordan as a RB? He seems to have good size and great speed for a S or OLB (adding about 20-30 lbs).

I initially had him listed as a LB prospect on my list but I now have moved him to the running back prospects. He seems to prefer to play RB and he is a four star ranked running back. He is a two way star so he could end up as a RB or S/LB. He is listing high interest in his two favorites, Alabama and Clemson.

Do we think at this time that any of our recruited DE's will end up playing LB in the new scheme much the same way A. Watkins and C. Williams will end up moving to the OLB position?

Maybe I'm just thinking out loud here, but at 6'6" 240, Michael Williams would be a holy terror playing the OLB spot. That is ridiculous size! That's NFL size coming out of high school.

You know, looking at our roster, it's no wonder we finished 6-7 last year, and have looked so mediocre even when we have won games. Nothing against our current players, but lack a lot of size at so many positions. I'm loving the size at OLB and QB CNS is recruiting. Look at how many QB's at 6'4" or taller are being recruited. It wont be long at all before we start seeing Alabama with more 1st round draft picks than we know what to do with. I haven't seen this combination of size and speed being recruited to 'Bama in quite some time. This is getting good guys. . .

If you're speaking of the guys we currently have committed I don't know. I think all three will likely stay on the DL, but Lewis and Williams could possibly move to OLB more so than Billingsley IMHO. Now if you're talking about guys we're recruiting, that's a whole other story. There are several guys we are recruiting that play on the DL in high school that could easily make the move to OLB in college. I guess it'll probably depend on the number of top LB recruits we're able to land as to how many of these said prospects wind up making the switch. But even so, it sure is nice to have the option.

CNS is looking to upgrade the size and speed of the OLBs with Bama's new 3-4 scheme. The "Jack" position is a hybrid of outside linebacker/defensive end and that will need versatile players. There will be more emphasis on aggressively going after the quarterback, with disguised schemes and shifts, so the offense doesn’t know who’s coming and from where. You will most likely see some of the DE signees end up at the "Jack" position. Here are some prime candidates.

Commitment:

Michael Williams - 6' 6," 240 lbs, 4.7 forty

Prospects with offers:

William Green - 6' 5," 208 lbs, 4.7 forty

Chase Clement - 6' 5," 240 lbs, 4.7 forty

Glenn Harbin - 6' 5," 235 lbs, 4.8 forty

Keith Wells - 6' 5," 225 lbs, 4.8 forty

With all the RB prospects that have offers; if half of them accept; I imagine several will end up as DB's or LB's. Nice problem to have after the last few years around T-town.
