2008 Olympic Thread

I apologize...I did not realize that it was bad form to post my opinion on the Olympics.

Apology accepted but I see this in so many threads. It may be a thread about a TV show and someone will say I don't like that show or about a singer and someone will say I don't listen to that kind of music, it just doesn't add a thing to the thread. Obviously there are enough people who do watch the Olympics, show or singer to have a decent thread without the side remarks. You may think it's worth your time to post such things but they won't make post of the week and every time I see one like that it is the equal to biting into a green persimmon.

Stepping off my soapbox. ;)

Does anyone else find it a little annoying that NBC shows these events as "LIVE" when you already know the results of the event?

I knew that Phelps got his 8th gold early this morning, yet NBC was presenting it later in the morning as if it was real-time.

The swimming, for at least us on the eastern part of the US, has been shown live. They, however, have been replaying it in the morning.

Yeah, it is a little annoying. I turned on the tube yesterday morning hoping to see both USA basketball and the men's 100 meter finals. Didn't get to see the 100 meters until last night. It was awesome, though, even knowing the results. Bolt dominated like Johnson did in the 200 meters in '96.

Sorry for the Hijack

The Women's BB Team is really doing well. I think they should be getting more Press than they are.

I hate the color orange.

And I'm glad there isn't an orange ring in the Olympic flag.

Just saying.

Well, this thread wasn't about the color orange. It was about the 2008 Olympics (very general...not "Why do you like?" or "What is your favorite part about?"). My reasons for hating the Olympics, whether anyone agrees with them or not, are well thought out, and it is quite topical to the general discussion ("2008 Olympics"). I don't just hate the Olympics because I think they are boring or some silliness like that. Some of the sports I really do enjoy outside of the Olympics, actually.

Either way, I didn't see it as hijacking (because it stayed true to the topic) or as in bad form when I posted.

i have never seen anything as dominating as that run by bolt. that was impressive to say the least. and he was able to "dance" the last 15 meters without it even being close.

the amazing thing was the separation he got on the field and how much smoother he looked than everyone else.

and fwiw, i love the olympics, even with all of the hype

They might as well make a new version of "The Flash" staring Usain Bolt. He made the 200m look like a walk in the park.

That guy is a F-R-E-A-K!!! Especially considering the fact that he's 6'5", you rarely see elite sprinters of that size.
