I agree. Complete garbage. This takes on a personal meaning for me. I won't go into details because they really don't matter, but it's complete garbage.
I'm rarely upset or angry at anything at all, but this continues to be an ongoing travesty.
My guess would be an out of sight out of mind type thing. Is there a speculation as to why he isn't getting the votes?
I am shocked DT is not already in and stunned he is not included this year ahead of just about everybody being inducted. It took far too long for him to get into the NFL hall of fame.
But this is far more egregious than that. What he did at Alabama was on the level of Barry Sanders at Oklahoma State. 27 sacks in one season is unreal. 52 in his career.
Archie Manning, a former Ole Miss Rebels football All-American and member of the College Football Hall of Fame, serves as the current chairman
Unfortunately it is not even recognized as the record. NCAA was not keeping sack stats at the time and will not recognize it. The NCAA record is 24.I am shocked DT is not already in and stunned he is not included this year ahead of just about everybody being inducted.
The 27 sacks in a season should be regarded as one of those records that will never be broken (Ripken consecutive games started streak, Dimaggio hit streak, Mal Moore National Championship rings, etc......)
Shouldn't matter if it's recognized by the NCAA or not. The voters know what he did, yet continue to spit on his grave.Unfortunately it is not even recognized as the record. NCAA was not keeping sack stats at the time and will not recognize it. The NCAA record is 24.

I'm sure TiderJ was not trying to hijack the thread. And I am certainly not. But the remark by TiderJ that I was replying to had nothing to do with the OP.Shouldn't matter if it's recognized by the NCAA or not. The voters know what he did, yet continue to spit on his grave.
Hard to tell tone through written word. My apologies for the implication, TiderJ. I'm sure you're in agreement, I was just trying to say it shouldn't matter (to anyone) what the NCAA recognizes when everyone knows what DT accomplished. Not his fault they weren't keeping records then.I'm sure TiderJ was not trying to hijack the thread. And I am certainly not. No reason for an apology and I am in total agreement. Your comment "spitting on his grave" is so true.Hard to tell tone through written word. My apologies for the implication, TiderJ. It took the Maryland Racing Commission 39 years to get the Preakness record correct. I don't have much faith in the NCAA getting it right.Hard to tell tone through written word.
