With all these vacancies, and more to come, has anyone here heard Mack Brown's name come up ? He said on an ESPN show he would listen if someone called.

Yeah, I heard his name mentioned for the USCe job. In all honesty, he might be a very good fit in Columbia, he is from TN, coached at UNC and has name recognition.The Shamecocks could do a lot worse.

UCF is considered to be a highly sought-after job. St. Louis Rams quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke, a former Florida State quarterback; former Florida coach Will Muschamp; and North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik are said to have expressed high interest.

Yeah, Holtz and SOS, but USCe is not Alabama, LSU, UGA or UF. If Brown is serious about getting back into coaching for another 5 years he could win 8-10 games a year at USCe and they would be ecstatic.

If the Gamecocks miss the first 3-4 "up and coming" coaches, it's probably a good call.

Not surprising to hear Chizik interested in UCF. I think he was DC for a couple of years there before his first go-round at API.

UPDATE 11/24) We are told today a tentative agreement on an offer in principle between USC and Tom Herman has been reached. The deal is contingent on Herman and his wife liking what they see when they visit USC and Herman and Ray Tanner being comfortable with one another. That visit could take place as early as Sunday or the first part of next week depending on the outcome of Houston’s game Friday with Navy. A Houston loss would expedite the process. All information at this time points toward Herman. All other names are simply fallback prospects should things not work out with Herman.

That's a strong hire, methinks. By all accounts he's a detail oriented guy, great recruiter, and he has a good offensive mind.

Reading much deeper in the article, Kirby Smart is their next target if things fall apart with Herman.

If not Herman, I think they go after Muschamp. They wanted him bad before.
