Alright, well go vote for someone who will make you feel good about yourself while nothing materially changes in this country. Get high off President Aaron Sorkin making you feel good about the American Empire.
Many people who are behind Sanders are willing to talk about his plans to fix the country, but are pretty light on his likelihood of beating Trump or pragmatic enough to think about how much of his plans will actually be implemented.

I like Bernie. I like many of Bernie's plans. However I don't think that his agenda has a chance in heck of actually getting implemented in Washington. The American populace is perfectly happy with gridlock. If Sanders gets in, he *might* get 2 years where he could possibly change things, but then America would swing hard right again. Thats all assuming he gets elected, which I am just not sure is possible given the current demographic makeup of America. Maybe in 20 years after the boomers have died off.

Whenever people yell that Sanders is the only one who can "fix" America, and anyone who thinks otherwise or wants another candidate is a pseudo-democrat, just creates division and reinforces the "Bernie bro" stereotype.

Bernie winning the primary is likely to get 4 more years of Trump. When the standard answer is "Well stupid America deserves it if they are too stupid to elect Bernie." it makes me fear what happens even if he doesn't win the primary. I think the cult of Bernie is likely to take their toys and go home again this year if they don't get what they want.

For the record if Bernie wins the nomination, I fully plan to vote for him. I wonder how many Bernie supporters are willing to say the same of some other candidate.

Same, and I most of the people who I know who are adamant Sanders supporters are truly a risk to sit the election out. If they sit the election out, I doubt that I will ever take them seriously again.

I disagree with most of this but atleast he has a plan to do what he says he will do. As I understand it, if he declares climate change a national emergency, he will have alot of power to change policy as long as he can prove it has to do with climate change. I wonder what all he would do and how much of it would end up in the courts. How can you tell the Justice Department to legalize marijuanna? I thought only congress could legalize things. Also he says that these executive orders are needed to pass things that cannot wait on congress. While I think marijuanna should be legalized, I do not know why that cannot wait on congress. I understand that if you think climate change is about to ruin our planet then you cannot wait on congress, but not some of this other stuff.

Pot makes as much sense as climate change. Heck, I hope he forces the legalization of all drugs. It is time to stop putting drug users in prison.

I vieW the climate change thing as something that could potentially do irreversible damage to our planet. We only have one planet so we need to make it last. I want marijuanna legalized too but I do not see our war on drugs as destroying the planet. I am also not sold on him changing climate change laws through executive order. I want everything to be passed by Congress. However, I can see how that is an emergency.

It is an emergency if your family members are going to prison for using recreational drugs.

Also, I’d add that among that list of possible EOs I think the average democrats agrees with the main thrust of at least couple if not half or more. Bernie Sanders has a bold, fresh plan to make good on things democratic voters have shown an interest in rectifying. I don’t like governing through executive order because it is fleeting but it would likely be the first step towards creating broad consent when the world doesn’t crash into the sun after the changes.

Which is exactly why we should show more solidarity with our fellow man and keep that in mind when making law enforcement policy.
I do thinks it's odd that congress has yet to be made up of a majority of people that support marijuanna legalization. The majority of Americans have supported legalization for at least a couple of election cycles by now. Why have they not yet voted atleast half of congress as pot supporters yet?

The people who run are older, and most people 50 or older will never be convinced - EVER.

This is anecdotal but I work with a lady in her 60s. She is very promarijuanna. She grew up in an Era where alot of young people were smoking. I bet an lot of congressmen have at least tried it.

I am in my 50s, so clearly some people my age get it. But most of my contemporaries do not. And forget talking to them about the legalization of other drugs.

I'm alot younger than you and you can forget trying to convince me about most drugs besides marijuanna. I have seen people's lives ruined by heroine and meth. They are in no way similar to pot.

You need to do some research then. Putting people in jail for using those drugs does not diminish their use at all. All it does is double down on the destruction.
