2028 Recruiting Thread

Since we are now getting quite a few '28 commits I thought we should start their own thread. Up and coming LB Ryquan Butler committed to Bama. Currently unranked but from his offer list that will change and he will end up a 4* before it is all said and done.

The in-state prospect marks the fourth commitment in the cycle and second at the linebacker position for the Crimson Tide.

Top 5 QB (ESPN has him #3) and top 50 overall player Kingston Preyear from Benjamin Russell announces his commitment tomorrow. He is expected to announce for Bama. If he does it will be our 2nd QB commit for this class. This staff knows how to recruit QB's (I know we need OL/DL).

The 2028 in-state Alabama class is loaded with 7 players in the Top 100.
From all talks we are hearing, this staff is saving the NIL money for a bigger 28' class and fans should expect this in-state class to a big part of it. but like all things, recruiting is fluid so we shall see.

I’ve got to believe that some of these early 2028 commits are calculated by the staff, given the amount of negativity being hurled Alabama’s way concerning “lack of success” in 2027.

Seems like it sends a clear message that “2027 is a calculated pullback. We are back as major player in 2028”.

Yep but the majority of Bama fans and other schools fans/media won't see it this way.

I guess it's better to get the verbal even though it 3 years out than NOT getting it. Maybe the Benjamin Russell QB will lock in and stay "faithful" to the Tide so that the staff doesn't have to spend too much time retaining him.

On a separate note: Good gracious! CKD recruits top QBs like Coach Saban ate Oatmeal Cream Pies for breakfast!!!
