3 UT players arrested last night

We are not saying he's an innocent bystander...He was in the car at 2AM on the Strip, and there was pot in the car...Those two points right there throw out the "innocent bystander" status...We're just saying that there's a very good chance he knew nothing about the robbery (and some info is even saying he tried to stop the other two from doing it)...If the latter is the caes, I do not think that warrants kicking JJ off the team

Here's CLK's dilemma...If JJ truly had nothing to do with the robbery, then IMO, he doesn't deserve to be kicked off, but he does deserve to be suspended for the rest of year, if for no other reason that stupidity...Problem is, if he doesn't kick him off, the negative recruiting and the national media are going to be brutal bc they aren't going to tell the story that JJ had nothing to do with it bc people recruiting against us don't want others to know that and it doesnt make a good story in the media...They are going to say that JJ got to stay on the team bc he is the future All-American candidate...So becomes the question, do you kick him off for PR (even if he may not deserve it)?

I have no idea (nor does anyone other than those three and probably the coaches by this point) what happened...So, I want to be clear that I'm not saying JJ had nothing to do with it, I'm just throwing out the scenario of "what if" he had nothing to do with it?
IMO, if he really had nothing to do with the robbery, he should not be kicked off of the team. He should be suspended for the rest of the season and the bowl game, but that is it. Any other incident - ANY - should result in him being thrown out of school altogether. Make him learn from this.

If the rest of the college football world doesn't like that, what difference will it really make? There are plenty of football fans who would still think of UT as THUG U no matter what they do to JJ. Kiffin can show parents that, while he is serious about players following team rules, he will not throw them under the bus at the first sign of trouble. If JJ is was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and he is kicked off of the team, what does that say about Kiffin?

The problem is today's instant-news media cycle had already written their opinions of the incident and what Kiffen had to do. We had a similar (albeit, not robbery) incident last year involving our team leader on defense. Thankfully, it was during the offseason, and the story, along with the truth, was able to develop before everyone in the media voiced their definitive opinions on this young man's future. If JJ is relatively innocent, no one, I hope, thinks he should go to jail--but really, what does a player under Kifen's rules have to do to get suspended for a game 3 days away? And, if I am Jackson's father, I think hard about letting him stay in Knoxville.

One thing that stands out to me...if you don't have any money, why are you at the convenience store? This would point to the notion of they planned it, imo.
If Jackson goes into the store, why did he, and what did he do there? Did he go in to buy something & if HE has money, what the heck are the other 2-3 trying to hold up someone else? Why not just ask him for some money?

Vol fans can spin this and already are wanting to keep him on the team, but in what way did he try and stop the other 2 from doing what they did? If he didn't want to be a part of it, walking away or just not getting in the car would have been the thing to do, which he didn't do.
The victim's in the report or interviews never said that he tried to stop anything, so we're just gonna go off of he-said/she said? Well of course he's going to say he didn't know.
WEAK.

Before I draw conclusions about guilt through association, I would want to know more about their relationship. If they were close friends, JJ knew. If not, we can't assume that JJ knew. Also, do we know that JJ didn't have any money when he entered the store? If not, why even bring it up?

Small wonder that the best football player of the bunch is garnering sympathy and arguments for mitigation amongst UT's fanbase.

I'm skeptical firstly of the assumption that this was a simple, spontaneous robbery, and surely also of the pleas that Jackson had no idea what was going on. That implies the other two concocted this plan in the short time Jackson walked into the store, leaving their friend unaware of the of the startled situation that were making him a part of...

They're playing careers are NOT over. I'm sure Bowden will find room for 'em here at UNA :) Nuke wouldn't be homesick either, half UNA's roster are former Florida State players, surely Nuke already knows a few!

I was born in Goodlettsville, TN. I know many UT fans including my own mother. She has been a fan her entire life and attended UT, but she has had enough and said that they have allowed the football program to make the entire University look like a septic tank of idiots. They give scollys to rapists, make absolutly idiotic remarks at every corner and continually defend poor decisions instead of holding people accountable. Including the head coach. When will this guy leave? He is a embarrassment. Let Monte (sp) coach them at least he has some common sense. I will say that I have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, due to UCHEAT. My mother actually cheered for the Tide during the UT game. She is in her 70's and said she would not support the football team until the "idiot" left. She said she was also ashamed of the people from UT who think this guy is the next "Big Thing", they honestly beleive this. God bless the older people in our society. They refuse to support idiots who make excuses.

Take a look at this gem: Taken directly from Vol Nation

Kiffin needs to go easy on JJ, or he'll transfer to another SEC school.

I'm going off the premise that if you have at least some (pocket change) money, you're not holding up someone else trying to get theirs...especially someone driving a Hyundai.

I'm not drawing any conclusions on any of these players, merely pointing out some things that don't make sense based on what has been made public. Of course the whole thing has stupid written all over it so its really not going to.
I'm not throwing stones at UT or anybody else, every program in the SEC has had issues with bad apples and UA is no exception.

CTB can only take guys that aren't in the jail system...unfortunately I don't think we will be able to get these guys until 2016, but atleast we will see a ESPN special on how these guys have matured and are getting a 2nd chance at the DII level!

Wow...so there is enough evidence there that none of them will travel?
Man, this whole thing is so stupid it sounds...stupid. If what the "victims" claim is true, how could Edwards and Richardson even have graduated HS? A pellet pistol? A Prius as a getaway car? (Although I'm sure that was just circumstantial, it's not like they robbed a bank and probably decided to do this on the spur-of-the moment...if not, then, once again, even more incredibly stupid.) Believing those guys actually had any money?
The only thing that leads me to believe drugs might have been involved is the time that this happened...and that's another thing, don't college teams have curfews at least during gameweek?

Maybe they played Lil' Wayne backwards and heard a voice:

"Pull in at the Pilot and rob a... "

BUMP!!!

4* recruit: "I didn't hear that. So, who we supposed to rob?"

3* recruit: "I don't know... a 'Hunky'... 'Hundy'... AH... Hyundai! There's one right there."

Should we "crucify" JJ, no, we do not know all of the details. But I promise you this, after what we do know right now, you would probably be alot closer to the truth by "crucifying" him than being an apologist for this situation. Saying the kids age and his demographics has completely NOTHING to do with this situation. If that was the case, how come every football player on every team in the country that lives farther than 300 miles from his home isn't riding around failing drug tests, and just "happening" to be with guys who are robbing people. JJ may or may not be guilty, but I'd love to make a wager on which one he is...unfortunately, due to power and money, we probably will never find out and we will never know...

Nothing this article excuses these kids' behavior, but it does remind one of the way Richardson was just another pawn in Kiffen's chess game and or how much of an idiot Kiffen is (evidenced by the things that come out of mouth):
