We will probably be losing a starter at Wolf (Robinson) & his backup (Koht) next year; thus, it is pretty logical for Hill to commit to us.

Their defense, or Alabama’s? Bama’s two edge guys are gone, and if there was ever a chance to get very early playing time it would be with a new coach, new scheme, and little returning experience.
Osu fans have blamed Larry Johnson not using outside linebackers like hill for losing him.

I've seen that a few times from osu folks.

There is probably some truth to it but Im not familiar enough with the defense to know exactly.

But bama got hill by winning over his mom. Saban was close to landing hill before he retired. Deboer and staff closed the deal.

got two words, one Name for you. Zion Grady. Many Ohio St fans on Eleven Warriors are in disbelief over this, some blaming NIL , but don’t bat an eye at Zion Grady committing to Ohio St.
Most individuals within a college football fan-base can’t comprehend the “Proportional-Inverse-Commitment-Factorial-Equasion” with regard to any school (other than their own) receiving a commitment from a highly-desirable high school football player.

In essence, the equation demonstrates the rationalization of “how we were able to get one from your state…vs…how you were able to get one from our state“

I think it has more to do with the lack of Jack/Wolf defensive style and personel. It is not a good fit with how Hill plays.

Yea they just don't use his body type at edge apparently.

Not dissimilar form our new defense and zion grady. He just wasn't a good fit for what the new staff wants at wolf and not quite what they need at DE, and hill and Merritt are much better fits at wolf.

Grady will fit their defense well and is a great get for them fwiw.

Here is a little nugget from Justin about OSU turning up the heat before he announced. I hate these times and early signing date can't get here soon enough.

“It got serious, to the point where I was getting calls about it going higher, literally like an hour before I was had to drive up here to come announce,” Hill said in an interview with Michael Dyer, who is the high school sports reporter for WCPO in Ohio. “Obviously, it didn’t change anything, but it’s definitely just crazy…it’s a crazy thing.”

I'm not sure I buy this being a matter of fit for body types. Here's the On3 measurables for these guys.

Zion Grady - 6'4", 225

Justin Hill - 6'3", 220

Dawson Merritt - 6'3", 215

Not really a big difference between them, and realistically all will need to gain a load of weight to play even the smaller edge "wolf" position.

UWA guys at that spot were all 245-250ish. OSU does tend to use more dedicated DE big body types who are 260+ though (or at least that used to be their prototype. They also don't play their guys much at all as hybrids with any off the LOS responsibilities. UWA didn't much either in the amount of film I've watched, but there is a bit more flexibility in how the guys are used. Old style 'bama we really didn't flex the guys much either, and we were way better when we didn't flex them out as 'LBs' and just let them play on the LOS with the ILBs or S handling the off-ball responsibilities.

The OL was on his heels and any player could have flattenned him. Absolutely no disrespect to Hill.😎

Whoever made this video was cherry picking...
Cherry picking, sure. But The reason the o lineman was on his heels was the burst outside with a quick inside move that put the OT on his heels. Then , converting speed to power. Flattening was easy at that point. Not to mention giving up almost 90 pounds to the o lineman. The speed was the impressive part of that, not the flattening

Whomever the OL is I hope Auburn signs him. Though first practice with the varsity in high-school something similar happen to me, but it was the last time. Low man wins most every time.
