I think Top WRs are actually being smart.

If I were one I wouldn’t commit or sign anything with Alabama until Milroe to the NFL was a done deal.

If anybody knows how good or bad a QB is it’s WRs
Football is a three year commitment unlike basketball where you can go one and done. Smart would be to sign with a program that spits out Heisman trophy winners at the skill position like big gurlz at Walmart produce babies. We "upgrade" at the Head Coach position from an offensive and throwing the ball standpoint, and you are going to wait to see what Milroe does? How about look at who we have in your class in Keelon Russell. That tells you what Deboer is wanting to do while you will be on campus. Look at what he did at Fresno throwing for over 4,000 yards a game. Washington being the top passing team in the country while he was there and averaging over 500 yards a game. Go ahead and wait if you want but when that spot gets taken by someone else and we are steamrolling you on a Saturday night, don't say you didn't have a chance to be on the right side of it!

It’s those WRs life and like I said if I were one I also wouldn’t waste my Freshman year not creating any value for myself with a QB who is not a consistently good passing QB when I can go somewhere who has demonstrated in the last couple seasons that they spread the ball around.

When the NFL Draft becomes an assurance that Alabama WILL have a new QB next year then it would be smart to look at them.

Yeah, but not necessarily at the same program, the Portal has changed that...

TBH, Bond's numbers would have been less than he has at tejas if he had stayed.

I'd rather have a great QB and ok receivers, than great receivers and an ok QB.

The portal makes receiver recruiting much less critical. Picking up a quality receiver is easy in today's football world.

You guys are right, these stud receivers, who have been the go to guy for their quarterback for years, come to Alabama to block corners on quarterback power and quarterback counter.

First, those receivers did come to Alabama. Those same receivers all were going to leave Alabama if changes weren’t made. Changes were made.

Regarding this crop of recruits, it’s obvious that Williams has an effect, mostly because Jalen looks at him first, last, and always. Simple film watching shows that. The quarterback situation behind Jalen is murky at best. Anyone watch the Georgia game? Ole Miss backup came in, looked sharp THROWING the ball, and scored a touchdown. Evidence that the dropoff at quarterback should be minimal there.

Say what you want, the quarterback situation absolutely played a role in him backing out.

Most fanbases at larger schools fall into the false expectation that players will come to their school simply because of the Name.

Sometimes that is true but most of the time it isn't.

Players want to go where they can create the most monetary value for themselves with the NFL in mind.

Of all the positions WRs by and large tend to be a bit selfish and they want the ball in their hands.

They want Targets so they can get touches and show what they can do w/ YAC.

They can't do any of that when a QB can't and/or won't get them the ball consistently.

As you say above the Top Flight WRs do not want to come to Bama if that entails running routes for no reason because the QB is either Targeting One or Two players exclusively or if that entails doing a lot of Blocking on QB runs.

I'm not really sure why this even has to be explained.

The Rideouts were going to Transfer if Tua didn't become the Starter because Jalen Hurts could not get them the ball and we will lose current and prospective WRs if Bama doesn't have a new QB next year.

WRs want the Ball and they are going to go where a QB can get it to them.

Yes, but Jalen was still starting and people were saying our WR classes were not going to be good.....
Maybe they were saying that briefly because the only receiver signed in Hurts' class was T.J. Simmons. Nobody said it when Tua came in with Devonta, Ruggs and Jeudy. But other than Waddle, our receiver recruiting did drop off the next couple years. Possibly more so because of the coaches doing the recruiting.

As mentioned previously, Bama rarely loses a player that they want to the portal. Although I do see the number will continue to get larger than what we have seen due to players basically putting themselves on the market each offseason and seeing who the highest bidder is. When it comes to WR, we won't lose many once Deboer gets his system in place. There won't be a better major college program to be a part of than his. Go back and watch some Washington film from last year if you think I'm lying. Polk and Odunze, his top two guys off last years team, had a combined 161 Receptions, 2,799 yards receiving, and 22 TD's. Add to that McMillan, Westover, and Bernard had well over a 1,000 yards receiving and 11 TD's. The man knows what he is doing in the passing game and I think many of us will be in shock at what we see once he gets this thing going with his brand and style of play. In the mean time, just keep winning with what we have and keep adapting the offense to the skillset of JM and the guys around him. It won't be long before Bama will go from RBU to WRU and we will flood the NFL with even more alum than we have over the past 10 years, which is hard to believe.

No doubt, but our film won't look really good until next year. I would guess that (as you mentioned) our coaches are showing the recruits Washington tape until then...

Of course they aren't but I can guarantee you they are referencing "what we have done and what we will do here". Recruits care more about perception and potential than they do reality. If reality was the only thing that mattered, explain Aubarn's current class, and don't say $$$ as your answer because everyone is throwing that around!

You can go back and look at this board and there were some saying we were not going to get WR's with Jalen at QB and it is while Tua was on campus along with those three. It could only go down after we got those guys but we bounced back with Metchie and Williams a few years later.
