Bama Game Thread: A-Day Game Thread ( ESPN @ 3PM CT)

My simple take after watching the replay Sunday evening: 1. The only way the Defense can win in this format is if you have a sucky Offense. The O seemed to coast to the finish line. 2. The D did not concern me as much as past years because it is an offensive game today. The format was different but it will probably be a little different each year.

But take away the 21 point flurry at the beginning by the offense and and the defense wins the most points for about almost half the game.

I think the format allowed for changing out players to run with the 1s more freely and it was basically just a straight-up O vs. D type scrimmage.

Would I rather see a game? Maybe, but this was an excellent way to allow the fans to see more of what we've got on O and D. JMO.

Hate the convo has gone down the race hole.

I should be able to say JM isn't as talented as TS to run the offense without being accused of racism just as much as if I said Tua was better than Hurts.*

Now, if I had a history of racist posts, that changes the narrative, but I haven't seen one post on TideFans that I thought hinted at racism for those who were being objectively critical of JM. It's ALWAYS been about his abilities/inabilities to make football plays and his mind's inability to process info isn't a race issue; it's a human issue.

*Not saying the situations are the same between JM and TS and JH and TT. Not even close to the same in terms of how much more talented Tua was at the end of the 2017 season.

Most of the media people who are so in love with JM have never suited up and know absolutely nothing about how to throw a football. BTW seening AJ McCarron throw the football today one can see how the media people and owners can influence careers in such a negative manner.
AJ simply wasn't good enough to be a consistent starting QB in the NFL.

Watching him tear it up against guys who mostly aren't good enough to play in the NFL doesn't prove anything beyond the fact that he's good enough to tear it up against guys who mostly aren't good enough to make it in the NFL.

That's not a knock on AJ, it's simply accepting that over a decade in the NFL, he just wasn't good enough.

Or maybe you're partial to Pacific Islanders.

In the NFL it is possible to just be on the wrong team at the wrong time and be delegated to career backup QB. Could have been talent, but also could have been timing. We will never know. Consider guys like Kurt Warner and Doug Flutie. If not for a second bite at the apple and great luck when they got that second chance, both would have been considered "just not good enough for the NFL", and both were sensational NFL QBs.

The race card or whatever didn't come from me. My issue is the criticism of Jalen is relentless and non-stop. We can't discuss the offense or quarterbacks without the non-stop "Milroe bad" comments. Jalen did really well A-Day, but all some can do is be negative, and look for any tiny thing to complain about. Non-stop. TideFans is the only place I see this level of anti-Milroe nonsense.

It's certainly possible that he could have flourished in the appropriate system, but the more likely scenario is he just wasn't good enough.

And I simply reject the idea that he didn't get a shot because the media and coaches bought into some narrative that he wasn't good enough or that there was some mean-spirited conspiracy to deny him a shot.

Vontez Burfict. (spelling) ruined AJ’s one shot. He had the Bengals ahead in the playoffs until that numbskull cracked Antonio Bryant late on a third down and gave them another chance to go down and score.
