After 13 games we're 9-4. Let's revisit our thoughts and outlook on Coach Kalen DeBoer

I don't know the number that has said that, but I think they are probably posting it on FB. I"ve only seen a few say that on here.

I agree it would set the program back and, as I asked upthread, who would be better that we know we could get???

It's obviously not as simple as saying he doesn't have the right QB, but he doesn't have the right QB.

JM has thrown for less than 2500 so far. Penix threw for 4900 last year.

We don't need a guy who can run well and pass mediocre. We need a dart thrower who can deliver the ball to our skill players.

From everything we have seen posted, said player will be here in January as an early-enrollee...

Isn't it, though? Milroe cost us all 3 games we lost this year with his play. We still wouldn't be a perfect team obviously, but with a competent QB, we would be a playoff team, guaranteed. Then literally nobody would be questioning DeBoer.

Ridiculous talk. Firing him would be a very awbern thing to do.

Not aimed at you, but anyone calling for his job is simply posing and trying to stir the pot...
That decision remains in his own hands. Another sub-par year and the noise will be deafening.

There are only two currencies of any value in college football right now for recruits 1) NIL and 2) playing time. Scholarships offer little to no value. When these promises were made Yea Alabama was just getting off the ground. Saban advocated for a player led NIL collective, LANK. He wanted to build a studio at the south end of the stadium so the athletes would have the resources available to do their own NIL stuff. Sounds all noble and progressives, right? All of this to avoid outright paying players. Saban was pursuing the spirit of NIL while everyone was chasing the street version of NIL. But the athletes wanted someone to put the cash in their hands. Voila, LANK did this. The AD was behind in the NIL arena. Realizing this as a crisis with the transfer portal, the only other currency the program could offer was playing time, guaranteed playing time.

Under your examples there is a labor contract. Those professionals get paid whether they are playing or not. Thats how you can go to the bullpen. If the player gets cut for lack of performance or injury there are negotiated liquidated damages paid by the franchise. None of that is available to college programs nor the school-sanctioned collectives right now.
There should be a third value…. Coaching (ability to to get players to NFL)
and maybe a 4th Value…. Pimetime Viability (players will get more prime time views at elite programs… more eyeballs for Alabama versus a Syracuse or Nebraska).

I hope prospective recruits are NOT reading about how many Bama fans are wanting DeBoer fired. Would you want to go where the HC is literally wearing burning pants? Don't tell me recruits aren't having second thoughts about LSU?

Do the recruits really care about who the coaches are, or do they only care about the money? For instance, look at the QB that flipped from LSU to Michigan. I really can't see that Michigan's head coach is better than LSU's coach. Besides, if the players are not happy after one year, they will just transfer to another school for more money. The players are working the system to their advantage and making life-changing money that some families never make in their entire lives.

Certainly, and yet if Milroe doesn't turn the ball over twice, we still win, more likely than not. As i said, we wouldn't be perfect, but theres a chance we would be undefeated
In fairness to Milroe, the interception went off the receiver's hands, and he fumbled after getting crushed from his blindside because the blocker completely flubbed his block.

I agree that our defense has holes... but 5 Milroe turnovers sealed Vandy and Okie both... can't give up that many drives and hand over those opportunities and the TOP and win these games anymore.
Milroe's turnovers against Vandy were absolutely not what sealed that loss, especially when one of them happened with 50 minutes left in the game.

Now, OU is a totally different story.

Milroe was abysmally bad in that game in just about every way possible.

IIRC the fumble was his fault. He held the ball too long and needs to have a better clock.

But the INT was a freak tipped pass. Maybe not an amazing throw but not one that usually turns into an INT. PFF for example did not grade it as a turnover worthy play.

Maybe he did hold the ball too long, idk, but he's proven he can't be the starter next year, and that's all that really matters at this point.

Going back to preseason we’re right where many of us thought we might be at this point relative to W-L record. The problem is 2 of the 3 L’s are to teams that simply out coached us. Vandy took advantage of our defense and killed us with TOP. Sooners took advantage of the our offensive strategy and lack of adapting to what the defense gave us creating chaos and TO’s. Now, the chaos with OU was largely supported by QB choices and lack of execution in conjunction with O-line play. But I’ll give somewhat of pass to the O-line given it’s difficult to perform your best not knowing what is happening behind them.

CKD has a tall task ahead him this off season with roster and staff. He best get this program turned around in the right direction quickly or he very well might regret “embracing” the challenge of being the one to follow the GOAT. I’m adjusting my expectations. I don’t like it but it’s what I have to do at this point to maintain my Fanhood with what this team and CFB in general has become.

ROLL TIDE!

Exactly...how that game can be pinned on anyone on offense when they scored 35 points with only like 17 minutes of possession is beyond me.

The D and Womack are the reason we lost that game.
The D did not help much against OU either. 267 yards on the ground on 50 carries (over 5ypc)! The QB had half that. You'd think they would have walked more people up to stop that after 40 carries or so.
