Interestingly, a friend said Jermain Burton was appearing in a pro-day event recently and apparently you can choose the QB you want throwing to you. Guess who he had throwing to him? It was Ty Simpson.
It's definitely true Ty was throwing at the Alabama pro day. There were some videos. Idk about the rest 🤷‍♂️. He also threw to defensive players.

If true, that tells you all you need to know. When these guys are showcasing for a paying career, they want someone who can put the ball in the right spot consistently. Not digging them out of the dirt.

Gadsden, Al.
He's supposed to be working on his mechanics and he needs to for sure. Very awkward positions in his throwing motion...even including how he hold the ball.

You mentioned Ewers short passes. What always impressed me about Tua's short passes is how tightly he could spin it but deliver with such touch that guys rarely dropped a short pass of his. Of course, his slant was his signature throw. Just perfect!

JH will never have those fundamentals. It's too late just like my golf swing will never look like Tigers.

Good news is JM can still play at a high level without great mechanics IF he can learn to do the things he struggled with last year, which are very well documented.

Can he? Million dollar question!
Right now the Million Dollar Question seems to be how many QBs go thru the portal, and are they guys we really need.

The last quality QB coach we had was Sark and he left after 2020.

We’ve only had two starters since then (Young and Milroe).

Bryce thrived in spite of BoB and BoB didn’t even try to develop the guys behind Bryce.

Not sure how many, if any, of the current QBs on the roster were even in the room with Sark or Kiffin before him.
Not to mention that Bob told Milroe that he should be RB

Funny BOB suggested that when Milroe isn't a good runner.
In the Michigan game he had a back on a wheel route who was tightly covered. Other Michigan defenders were in coverage on the opposite side of the field. He had a clear lane for a TD or at least a substantial gain and chose a short throw to the back with the defender in perfect position. Does anyone recall a player with such outstanding physical gifts who doesn't appear to want to utilize them.

He'd never make it as a RB. That is laughable just saying it. He's fast and can be explosive but isn't very elusive or hard to bring down. That's not good traits for a RB.
Agree he likely would not make it as an RB for all the reasons you state. that said, there are different types of elusive. What makes an RB elusive is different from what might make a slot receiver elusive as they typically have more open field to work with. I do think that Milroe might have the traits with speed and that type of elusiveness to make a pretty good slot player.

He has the lowest football IQ of any player I’ve ever seen at this level. He runs when he should throw. He throws when he should run. He falls on bad snaps when nobody is within 10 yards of him. He has zero awareness of the first down marker. He runs with the ball in his right hand exclusively. He throws passes five yards beyond the line of scrimmage. He holds the ball and holds the ball and holds the ball in the pocket. He escapes the pocket into the edge rushers instead of climbing it. He takes sacks that kill drives instead of throwing the ball away. He throws bounce passes to receivers instead of taking a knee to run the clock out. That’s not even getting into reading defenses pre and post snap. Let’s hope these are some of the things that are on his 3 AM agenda.

Because he’s not a QB. All the evidence is there if people will just look for it.

Probably not. But again saying he's not a good runner is hyperbolic. I disagree that he's not hard to bring down, at times he's proven pretty difficult to bring down. Again he's not Lamar or Cam and could definitely use some improvement as a runner.

I guess I didn't see the aspect of being hard to bring down because he wasn't really an aggressive runner, imo.
