According to ESPN, Coach Saban made some phone calls on Andre's behalf to the NFL guys. :BigA:

Dez Bryant isn't even in this drafts is he? Could have sworn he was a sophomore last year.

Did Andre have problems with the law? No
Does Andre have discipline problems? No
Did the coaches like and respect him? Yes
Is Andre below average intelligence? No
Was Andre a top 5 pick out of HS? Yes
Did Andre help team to a great senior season? Yes
Is he of good character? From everything I've seen.

Did Andre get bad advice and maybe taken advantage of at seasons end? Probably so.

Is Andre as good as Chris Samuels was during his career? I think he's better.

Good for him, and I sure was hoping he would end up with the Jags, but we took the best OT that was still available at the 8th pick & filled a need.......

He just got the wrong advice I think when all that stuff happened. I don't think Cincinnati is the best team to go to with all their problems here lately. It's best to be around good character people, but hopefully things go well on that team..........

I had Andre Smith going in the top 10 without a doubt. I was looking at around 6th to 10th. :BigA:

I knew all the talk about the NFL combine wasn't going to happen. A talent like Andre is hard to pass up. The Bengals knew that. Carson Palmer was constantly getting nailed from the defensive right side. A perfect fit for Andre and some insurance for Palmer. :BigA:

Congratulations to Andre...he will hopefully do well in the pros and not let the things at the end of the year and at the combine haunt him. I think he will do fine. If you saw the Michael Oher story and interview, that had to touch you. That is the type of attitude we all need to have. Congrats to the best 2 tackles in the SEC and nation this past year.
