Alexander had an early offer and Alabama coaches had been in contact with McElroy before Tebow committed to Florida. Mustain appeared when he contacted Alabama but the coaches followed up on it.
 
I hate to use a basketball analogy...but the "full court press" was put on Andre' this weekend. By that, I mean those players chosen to be his "escorts" this past weekend; KD, LM and a few others.

Reports coming back in last night and this morning say the players don't think that Andre' is FOS and by all appearances he seems to be coming to Bama. He mentioned how good of a time he had with Shula, so that bodes well in itself. Not to mention, he's had family members talking about "he was Bama's to lose" and I received several reports from a few Auburnites that when he was down there he was talking with their other recruits about Alabama. Right after his time on the plains, they pretty well stopped recruiting him...so make of that what you may.

Recruiting is a fluid situation...no doubt. But, all signs point towards Bama from what I'm hearing.
 
intresting little bit of information on andre if i remember correctly him and his brother are going to go to the same school and on bamamag.com his list is down to bama lswho and uscocky bleeps and christain smith his lil bro only has offers from bama and lswho from dre's fill cut so i think we get him who knows maybe he is doing what fsu does every year and waits till signing day to commit when they have been commited for months but go every where else and recruit for them. just a thought.

i didn't know not putting commas or periods would get this many post , dear lord i put a comma. and a period is the world coming to a end. why don't we focus on the material and not the punctuation. another period thank the lord
 
Andre Smith Update from LSU country...

Living in Lafayette, LA, I was able to listen to a local sports talk show this morning that featured as it's guest Charles Hanagriff, sports director for Eagle 98.1, the LSU flagship station out of Baton Rouge (55 miles east of me).

Hanagriff is considered one of if not the very best sources on all things having to do with LSU sports. THe topic of Andre Smith came up (he is scheduled to visit this weekend), and Hangriff is of the opinion that though LSU is still recruiting Smith, he considers him a STRONG BAMA LEAN. Please understand, I am certainly not in the same league with RTO, PING, etc, but thought this observation would be great news to ALL BAMA FANS LIKE ME !

ROLL DAMN TIDE !!!
 
The Smith family is doing what I would do if I were in their shoes, checking out all the options, All I can say is that I wanted Andre more than Tebow or any other recruit from day one and I truely think he would have a bigger impact on Alabama than any other school he is visiting, most of those schools have been raking in top ranked players for years and Andre would just be the latest one. This would be Alabama's first top ranked blue chipper since Brody Croyal and to me would signal the official end of probation, and quite frankly with our running backs, I think barring injury it would mean a LOT of wins in the next 4 years which would in turn lead to more blue chip recruits. I think he could mean as much to us as Bo did to Auburn back when Pat Dye arrived.
 
It is interesting to note that Scout now lists that Andre has medium interest in only Alabama, USC, and LSU. It now shows that he has low interest in Auburn, Florida, and Florida State. Hopefully, this means that he has eliminated these schools from consideration.
 
From the Tom Lemming interview on Finebaum the other day (Surfer linked it in one of the McElroy posts), it sounded to me like Andre is Bama bound. Lemming was talking about his conversations with Andre's mother, and, although she didn't say so, you got the feeling that he was definitely getting a Bama vibe from her. Might not mean so much, but, it seems like everyone has gotten that vibe from them.

I also saw in recent Jake Jones interview where Jake said that he knew Andre & his family and felt that Andre's mom wants him at Bama. He did say that Andre has pretty much given him no indications, though.

All signs point to Alabama for Andre right now. Let's hope there is a fire to match up with all this smoke.
 
I think it is down to USC and Bama. I thought USC had only a small chance because of the distance and all of the returning OL they were supposed to have. Only problem now is that 3 of those linemen have declared for the draft. That means they can truly offer Andre early playing time just like Bama. I still think distance and family keep him in crimson.
