JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

It just says he’s under consideration for a couple of oc spots. I think both franchises being talked about would have to whiff pretty badly to pull the trigger on Grubbs. Not being neg on Grubbs it’s just not often a college oc with no nfl experience would make that kinda leap. Especially when neither head coach knows him. Would speak volumes for his rep/acumen if they did though.

Consideration ≠ Interview

Money won't be the issue. We would pay him as much or more as the NFL. My guess is if he takes it he just doesn't want to leave the Seattle area or would rather just be a coach with an off-season
He was only in Seattle a couple of years - I’m not convinced the city (Seattle?) would draw him back.
I firmly believe (always have) that there are pro coaches, college coaches who want to be pro coaches, and college coaches (Saban, Smart, and others).
Depends on what Grubb wants - a pro OC has a quicker path to a pro coach gig. IMO it’s a career-path choice. If he wants to be a pro coach, if this job is offered he’s probably gone. A year or two at Bama won’t close that door (maybe to Seattle), and will definitely open some HC gigs in college.
I’m hoping he’s close enough to KD that he does what he did when Saban interviewed him (not the return to Seattle part).

Rumors thrown out with the objective of pandering to many Washington fans and trying to hurt Bama in recruiting. Someone on Kyle Henderson's podcast who knows Washington football and Grubb says he does not believe Grubb would take the job. Hopefully, Grubb will come out and make a definitive statement that he is staying at Bama.

So after DeBoer hires Hitschler from Wisconsin Luke Fickell has to find a replacement and today he hires none other than Alex Grinch. 😀 Suddenly I'm less worried about our game at Madison. Having Grubb (if he stays) as our OC vs. Grinch as UW's Co-DC/safeties coach seems to be a mismatch.

It is not Grubb's fault if people in the NFL have a high opinion of him. Every year there were rumors about Saban. However, with the portal still open, and since he is involved with recruiting, he should shoot down those rumors very quickly.

Does anyone know who started the rumor?

Pro Football Talk first reported the news on Grubb, and the Seattle Times and 247Sports have since confirmed. His name may have been thrown out there because he is very popular with the fans in Washington. Does not mean he is interested.

Now that's funny. No way will Bama pay as much as an NFL team.
Actually, there absolutely is a way. The average OC in the NFL makes around $1million. Alabama can and, if they really want to keep Grubb, will pay that. They have done it before. Sarkisian was paid over $2million as Bama’s OC.

Also, it isn't always about the money especially when you are already making very good money. The word is that Grubb enjoys developing young players. He obviously has had a very good relationship with DeBoer and the other coaches. He wants to be a head coach one day. Alabama could be the springboard to achieving that goal at a very good school.

It sounds like from the college ranks Chip Kelly is the first in line in "ranking" for Seattle pulling from the college ranks if that's what they choose to do. Grubb having zero pro experience may cause some hesitation considering the new HC has zero head coaching experience. Seattle could easily make hires that put their staff in a blind leading the blind situation from an offensive standpoint and the HC.
