JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

I guess the next thing we hear from you is that Taylor Swift likes your new celebrity status.

Related note: My wife posted something about Elvie Shane's new song on Facebook and he actually posted a thank-you to her. So now she has two celebrity musician crushes I have to deal with. Just when Garth Brooks was getting too old for her ...

Minor update: Rodney Orr just responded to someone on the TI message board indicating the in-house rumor (meaning going around the team) is that the new OC will be Sheridan and/or Sheridan/Shephard. Nunez would go on-field as the TE coach. But he also said there were other rumors about.

About an hour ago I talked to a guy who says the Missouri duo is also getting a call, so I'll reiterate what I said last night: I expect it to be one of those two options. There are a lot of crazy rumors going around right now, guys just abjectly making stuff up.

Hard for me to blame Grubb. If your boss took a job in Seattle, is it a given that you drop everything, leave all friends, family, house, schools etc behind and move there--maybe not

Where I blame him is if he knew from the get-go that Tuscaloosa wasn't a place where he wanted to be or his family. Then make that clear to CKD from the get-go and don't get invested to the point of being out on our recruiting trail and standing in front of a group of fans saying "I'm your OC". I don't understand circumstances that could have been in place that he couldn't have said from the very start "I don't want to go that far across the country, coach, I'm not going to be able to go with you." It's not like the guy (by doing that) was going to be unemployed longer than a week. 🤷‍♂️

If Grubb didn't want to come to Tuscaloosa then don't come. I don't believe anyone put a gun to his head. Like Stallings said about Francione, there is a way to leave and a way not to leave. I don't think that the best default action was to lie to everyone.

Apparently that is what he did and why CKD planned for it.

Can't blame Grubb really. I mean, until you have a job...you don't have a job.

I think we will be fine with whoever replaces him.;)

I'm disappointed that Grubb and Huff have moved on. It'd be a lot more comfortable transition, I think, had the offensive staff stayed intact. I do think Huff's departure is more significant based on what I've read and seen relative to the "DeBoer Offense" and what he wants athletically from the O-Line. It's easy for me as an old CFB fan to point the finger at those departing and claim they had no loyalty, but the reality is they just might be exercising loyalty to their own families. They really, at this point, had no emotional ties to our program and/or fanbase. Greg Byrne has announced that this scenario was a known possibility from the jump. Knowing this and the timing of the broadly hated Portal combined with NIL factors it stands to reason damage control was being implemented right before the 30-day portal window expired when Grubb stated he was our OC. CFB Coaching is huge business now so "Loyalty" isn't as prevalent these days. Not many, if any, will have the dedication to the team that CNS had. Hell, he himself bailed on Miami but, as legend has it, did so more for his family than himself. I ain't holding a grudge or expressing any ill will to either of these guys. I don't know all the details behind the departures, and probably never will, so I'm moving on to support whoever "Next Up" might be.

ROLL TIDE!!!
