Auburns fans coming unglued over Yeldon's change of heart

Yeldon to Auburn never made since from day one. Auburn already had another running back rated in the top 10 nationally, Jovon Robinson. Why would two running backs, both in the top 10 nationally, both roughly the same size, both power backs, commit to an Auburn's team that doesn't have an offense designed to use power backs.

It just sounds to me that Yeldon and his family decided Alabama gave him the best chance to succeed.

I had one tell me on FB that Yeldon just couldn't score high enough to get into Auburn

Auburn's only entrance requirement is to stay in the lines.

regarding the insinuation that TJ’s family was complicit in a nefarious plot to screw Auburn:

In the three big head-to-head recruiting battles of the last year (Calloway, Kouandjio and now Yeldon), the involvement of the prospect’s family in the decision led to the prospect choosing Alabama.

Neither Brent’s nor Cyrus’ families were aware of their sons’ secret commitments to Auburn until they were blurted it out on national TV. But as soon as those families got involved, the kids chose the good guys.

I don't know what Luper and Trooper are doing down there. I don't know if what they're doing is legal or not, either. But I do know that in three cases where we've gone head-to-head for a prized recruit, the family's involvement has led to Bama getting the signature, which tells me that Luper and Trooper are selling something that mommas and daddies aren't buying.

That's hysterical, really. The NCAA has a requirement. Auburn's entrance requirement would be the same as Alabama's.
probably is, but not necessarily. schools can have different requirements for entrance. this issue is what got paul hornung in hot water when he wanted notre dame to lower the entrance requirements for athletes so they could better compete in today's game.

Add Spencer Region to that list, also.

I think, might be completely off base here, that the difference is Notre Dame is a private school.

a few years ago spurrier lost a recruit at so carolina cause he couldnt meet the entrance requirements, and signed elsewhere. i think its strictly an institution by institution thing.

The NCAA sets the standards once they are in college to stay eligible; its up to each school to set the entrance requirements. From looking at *U's admissions page for student athletes, they use a "holistic" approach based on each individual to determine if the would get in. There are no minimums published. The requirements for a regular students are based on how competitive the enrollment is for that year and the same goes for UA.

UA uses "special admissions" when students are not as competitive with non student athletes per a 2009 article from ESPN. (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4781264).

And the entrance requirements for a non student athlete are HIGHER at UA than at *U as far as core high school courses go.

I think it was either Trovon Reed's mother or grandmother who despised Taylor, and said so, but the money was probably so much that she lost whatever influence she may have had. I'm only surprised that their pictures aren't on the wall in any Post Office.
Pretty sure the only parents who would buy what they're selling have bought other things from undesirables before...

Didn't Lattimore's mom (USC rb) take issue with Trooper & Luper when they were recruiting him? Seems like I remember reading an article about that.

If I rememeber correctly she said didn't think troopa wasn't too smart and lupee took over at the end and asked her"what would it take to get him to come to tha barn".

Test scores are not the reason he decided to come to Bama. I just did some quick checking. Althought AU has no written requirement for the ACT. Some Students get in with as low as an 18 on the ACT. I think they prefer a 21 score. 79% of those who applied to for entrance into Auburn university were accepted as compared to only 54% of those that applied to Bama. These numbers tell me it is easier to get into Auburn than Alabama.

Impossible. Auburn has much tougher requirements. They are elite. Just ask them.
