Bama Coordinator Search Thread

Yah sort of -

but it feels like someone saying, "Look, I don't want O.J. Simpson watching my kids."

and the other guy being like, "Oh sure he's had a run in with the law but your last babysitter had a speeding ticket too."

I feel the scope of Ole Miss's transgressions coupled with his very public extramarital dalliances and the nearness of all this exploding pushes Freeze into a different category than Tosh and Lane.

OJ would be fine with kids; he didn’t kill any of them.

I get every point made here. Not sure what I think except Freeze’s bigger problem than no running game at Ole Miss was no defense. Something tells me that part is taken care of.

It works both ways though. It is funny how many have made fun of and condemned Freeze at Ole Miss..yet they will be ok with everything he did..because he would be on our staff.

Meh, I think it's more about realizing:
1- he's human and has made mistakes like everyone else. Whether he owns those mistakes and grows from them is the bigger issue, and
2- if he's hired, there's literally nothing we can do about it, so we might as well accept and support it.

I've been critical of Freeze, and would prefer he not coach at Bama. But if he's hired, he'll be an excellent coach.

No way I want Freeze as OC due to his past history. I wonder if that would hurt our recruiting or cause a few transfers. I think it would make the University look bad. If anything, just get his ideas or hire him as an analyst so he has no contact with players. I’m not sure that’s a great idea either. Yes, he is a good offensive mind, but character and integrity are more important. Surely there is someone else good to hire who has no bad history?

I'd much rather see us give an up-and-coming offensive coach a chance to show what he can do than "rehab" Freeze. Personally, I think ethics, integrity, and character are important.

The NCAA basically setup his punishment for him to go be an OC for a year or two then move right back into a head coaching position. I didn't figure it would be us but this is exactly what the NCAA gave him.

I'd really like him as an analyst, and the article says it doesn't have to be coordinator, but... it would make me nervous to have that guy out recruiting.
I doubt he would be hired for an on field position at this time.

How would the university look bad in this?

No one seemed to care when Tosh was hired. Do people know why he was fired?

How would his hiring cause transfers?

Why? If he was going to be hired as an analyst, Saban probably would have made the hire months ago.

It's a Nicktatorship and Coach is the boss. He built this machine and continues to mold it. You know it Saban4Ever. If he's winning natties then we're shuttin up because he's the best in the business. And it is just a matter of time before Bo Davis is back on staff too. We all need to step back and let the master do his bidding.

Why? That should be obvious from a sampling of some negative comments made about Freeze. We all make mistakes. I am all for second chances and CNS certainly is also. Personally, If CNS thinks it is a good hire, I have no problem with it however, some people will.

So because some have negative comments about him you feel he'll be an analyst?
