Bama getting no respect

I'm honestly still trying to understand how that debacle yesterday even happened. People expect us to be moved up after that? All year, our coaches have been able to get it together at halftime, but yesterday we scored exactly three points all second half except for the TD at the end. It was so bad, I had to go outside and take a walk in the cold air to get my mind off of it, and I walked back in and Auburn is still running on our defense.
I am only offering this post here to say that if Bama shows up ready and prepared and gives its best game of the season to Georgia, I won't even care if we lose as long as we didn't repeat that performance from yesterday. If they beat UGA and don't get in because others remain undefeated, well, it is what it is.

Apparently, you're watching the entire college football season through Alabama's games only. Outside of Michigan, every single team currently ranked higher than us has had games where they struggled against teams with much inferior records. You act like the teams ranked higher than us are blowing everybody out, every game and that simply isn't true. Flip the channel every now and then. (y)

Oregon has a close loss to Wash and just beat Ore St by 24
Texas has a close loss to OU and beat TTech by 50
tOSU lost to #2/3 Mich on the road by 6

Bama lost at home by 10 and escaped defeat by 3 points to a terrible AU team.

I'm being objectively fair I think.
Until Saturday Oregon had lost to the only team it has played that is currently in the top 25. Only 3 of their 11 wins have come against opponents that have a +.500 record this year.

Objective enough for you?

Basically, Ohio St will be rewarded for losing late while we were severely penalized for losing to Texas and struggling against USF.

Gotta love it 🙄

You are both right. Oregon has beat nobodies. But they beat the heck out of most of them. They should not be ahead of Alabama, but this is a committee of fand, and fans love offense.

I mean LOL..sure.

I've said multiple times elsewhere their SOS is trash and only UGA and FSU have SOS's as bad in Top 8-10 teams.

I was mainly talking about the losses of the 1-Loss teams and the eye test of "what have you done for me lately" that the committee is enamored with.

Bama was trending upwards for sure but being blockaded by Texas and still are...

But we messed the bed vs AU with a committee watching who's already not impressed with us because of a 10 point loss at home followed quickly by stinkers against USF and an Awful Arky team.

Of the teams in contention for the Playoffs the 3 toughest SOS's are tOSU, Texas, and Bama.

So I do think right now pre-SECCG that tOSU and Texas should be ranked ahead of us.

Oregon should not be ranked ahead of us I agree... but I understand why they aren't dropping because they are pasting the nobodies they are playing and the committee in is love with both them and Wash for whatever reasons.

It's all jmo anyway and not something that should ruffle you feathers.

If we beat UGA and either FSU or Texas slip then I 100% think we deserve to be in the CFBP.

My feathers are ruffled by this stupid committee and their love for Bo Nix and the Quackers - it's totally unfounded by any objective measure other than perhaps their propensity to pile points on significantly inferior opponents. Another random stat - if my math is right the combined record of the Ducks opponents is 72-72, even with a 12-0 UW; Alabama opponents have a combined record of 85-59. Just mind boggling how the sports media just keeps pushing them. Proving B1G's point about fans loving the offense.

If you do not think the IB performance hurt our chances with THIS committee then you have not been paying attention to their rankings and their comments. From the first poll 'til now, they have been looking for a reason to put Oregon and Texas in over Alabama. They both blew out their rivals and Bama struggled. That's just another notch in favor of them and not Bama for THIS committee.

A win over UGA will earn some points for Bama but, I don't think we jump Oregon if they win. Our only sure way in is for FSU and Texas to lose this weekend. It's a toss-up if Texas wins and this committee has been leaning Texas all year. I think it would be to close to call even with a win over UGA.

Basically, I think this is how the rankings will be Tuesday:

1 - UGA
2 - Mich
3 - Wash
4 - FSU
5 - Oregon
6 - Texas
7 - OSU
8 - Bama

I think the Wash/Oregon winner is in, 100%. This committee has been telegraphing this since the first ranking. Mich and FSU are in with wins. So, what happens if Bama beats UGA. It's Bama vs Texas and I think they will lean Texas. I know, I know, we would have just beaten #1 but, this committee has been hammering head to head for Bama/Texas and I don't think they will stop.

They have set H2H up to be the deciding factor for weeks, all but said so in interviews. I don't think they care who Bama beats, it could have been 10 top 5 teams. The Texas loss has done us in with THIS committee.

Maybe I will be proven wrong. I'm wrong most of the time. go find my IB predictions.

Just my opinion, but I think a Bama win over UGA Saturday creates the Zantac moment for this committee and Greg Sankey.
This committee has talked out of both sides of their collective mouths. Head to head matters but so does who you play (SOS), when you played and how you’re playing late. So all things matter until “they don’t”.
So the stated goal is “the four best teams”. How in the world do you keep an Alabama “out” when they just defeat the #1 or #2 (depending on Tuesday) in your rankings, in what is basically a Georgia home game, against a team that is a two time defending national champion with a 29 game win streak. Additionally, you’re leaving out a team that has probably the top SoS among those vying for a slot.
There is a very strong possibility that an Alabama win on Saturday and others “holding serve” (Texas, Washington, Michigan, FSU) puts the SEC on the outside looking in. And in my opinion, that is an absolute joke.

2015 Michigan State and 2019 Oklahoma won their conference though. 2015 OSU and 2022 TCU didn’t.

So?

Are you now saying that if TCU had gone unbeaten last year and won the Big 12 - they would THEN magically have become one of the "four best teams?"

It's funny to me how this "four best teams" nonsense is a wax nose depending on how folks want to use it.

If Alabama was better than OU in 2019 - and UGA damn sure was - where was all the outrage at the committee? Because that's the whole thing with last year.

Alabama didn't win their conference last year, either, so why even go here?

Despite my rant - I do think we get in as long as either UT or FSU lose. Of course, first order of business is for Bama to take care of the Dawgs.
Looking at the teams ahead of us....
- 1 We beat UGA should put them out
- 2 99.999% chance that Michigan is in.
- 3 & 5 Either Oregon or Washington will get eliminated on Friday. Either Oregon will have 2 losses OR UW would be a 1 loss non-conference champion.
- 4 & 6 Need one (or both) of these teams to lose.
- 7 OSU sitting at home Saturday would not get in over a conference champion with identical record and only loss to a top 10 team.

Let's pull hard for the Cards and the Mullets! And of course ROLL TIDE!

Small point - Ohio State is stuck at 11-1. If Alabama wins, you will be 12-1, as would all those ahead of us. Ohio State's only chance to make the CFP is for both FSU and Texas to lose, and we still likely get knocked out by a 12-1 Georgia.

The three scenarios where we make the playoffs IMO.

1. We win, FSU loses
2. We win, Texas loses
3. We blowout Georgia and FSU wins a very close game vs Louisville (this might not actually work but it'd be really hard to keep us out if we dominate Georgia)

I don't see #3 happening. I don't think I see #2 happening. So, we need Louisville to win and obviously we have to beat Georgia.

I'm not all that sure we will beat Georgia. I think we can but our defense needs to show up big time.

Louisville will be FSU's 2nd best win IF they beat them. FSU's best win is LSU, who Bama beat. We also beat the team (Kentucky) that beat Louisville. Yet, we will likely be left out, even if we beat UGA. How in the world has it come to this?

I think Oregon will beat Wash.

I think FSU loses but, I've been saying that for weeks and it hasn't happened yet.

I think Texas steam rolls OK St.

I think Mich. wins by 10+.

I hope we win!

If this plays out, that leaves only 1 undefeated, Mich. This would be my guess of the final rankings:

1 - Mich
2 - Oregon
3 - Bama - they finally rank us ahead of UT, only because we both get in, plus for the matchup.
4 - Texas

If everything stays the same but FSU also wins, that becomes a big problem for Bama. My guess for that scenario:

1 - Mich
2 - FSU
3 - Oregon
4 - Texas/Bama toss up, with a heavy lean towards UT by this committee.
