QB coach?
it was a joke. I doubt either would ever want to do a work together on the field again. Even during the roast you could tell there was a lot of stuff going on still between the two.

plus I think Brady would be more of the support “my kids’s school” or support Michigan guy.

UNC’s program has had several really good coaches lead their program with little to show for it. The problem is as much with UNC as CBB

UNC makes weird decisions when it comes to football. They consistently make splashy hires of coaches that have passed their prime. Butch Davis, Mack Brown (the 2nd time) and now Belichick. It's a strange pattern. I know NC isn't a hot bed of football talent, but they could, and should, be extremely competitive in the ACC, yet they never are.

Didn’t Butch Davis do 2 stints as well?

Don't be shocked if Bellicheck doesn't lean on Saban for some assistant hires. He will want some people on staff with quality experience from the college game. Bellicheck is far from dumb and knows better than to hire an all NFL staff. Don't be shocked if Jeremy Pruitt's name doesn't pop us in the mix.

Bill Belichick prior to Tom Brady (6 seasons, 5 w/Cleveland, 1+ NE)
  • 36-44 with Cleveland, 0 Division titles and 1 playoff appearance
    • 5-13 with NE. Brady took over 0-2 NE (Bledsoe injured) in 2001 and went 11-3 and won a SB
Bill Belichick with Tom Brady (18 seasons in 19 years (2008 lost for year in 1st game)
  • 219-64 77.4%, 17 Division titles including 16 in a row discounting injury year), 18 playoff appearances), 6 Super Bowl titles, 9 SB appearances, 30-11 playoff record
  • (NE was 10-5 without Brady. Did not win the division nor make the playoffs in 2008 when he was lost for the year in the first game.)
Bill Belichick final 4 years with Brady and 1st 4 without
  • The final 4 years of Brady: 4 Division titles, 3 SB appearances, 2 SB titles, 8-2 playoff record
  • The first 4 years w/o Tom Brady: 29-38, 0 Division titles, 1 playoff appearance 0-1 playoff record
Tom Brady without Bill (3 seasons)
  • 3 seasons prior to Brady, 17-31, last in 2 of 3 seasons, next to last in other, 0 playoffs
  • 32-18, 2 Division titles, 3 playoff appearances, 1 SB title, 5-2 playoff record

Is Bill just bored and needs something to do? Go home, watch some tv, enjoy retirement dude.

One could only hope he's had a conversation with Saban at some point about the buzzsaw (NIL) he's about to run into.

The funny thing is that CBB wasn't known for paying players well in the NFL. Now he's going to be dealing with NIL, where pay isn't required, its just how you improve your talent. Is he going to come in thinking, I can take limited talent (read scholarship only) and win?

He won in NE because he had Brady, who was able to elevate the slightly above average (read cheap) players around him on offence. His defenses were always complex and smart, but I believe one of the reasons Saban retired is because of the transfer portal, you couldn't develop the players into that complex defense and he saw where things were headed.

If that is the case, and Saban didn't think it was sustainable, I don't think Bill is going to have any more success.
