Brandon Cox?

fRan is a lot of things, but dumb isn't one of them. Cox would not have fit his offense.

So leaving Bama for A&M a smart move? By the way how did Zow do in his "offense" when given the chance? You do not turn away blue chip players (unless you are the barn!)

Anyway I guess things are a lot easier when you can look back, but I bet the coaching staff would have loved to have had him.

It's hard to bring in a good passing QB into an option offense, that's what Tommy is getting at. That's why Brodie looked so hard at OU and FSU.

Coaches...

Vary in their approach to a philosophy. Some coaches recruit the best guys available and builds the philosophy around the strengths of the players. The exact opposite is true with others. Some have a tried and true philosophy & will not take a guy unless he fits that philosophy (no matter how many *s he might have attached to his name). The tough thing for CMS is that he has been forced to work with players recruited for Fran's system.

Forgot to mention it...

But we can thank Fran for our QB woes last year. Because CMS has a totally different offensive philosophy, BC was the only older QB that "fit it." Guillen, by the way, was a lucky pick-up or we would have been down to only SP by the end of last year.

Actually, Zow didn't run fRan's offense. He wasn't so "dumb" as to try to pound a square peg into a round hole. He modified the offense to better suit Andrew's talents, but his preferred offense requires more athleticism than Cox offered.

It should also be pointed out that his recruitment started just as our scholly numbers dwindled. Every offer counted then. Why spend one on a player that doesn't fit your system....unless you know ahead of time you're not staying.

How can you put Brandon in the "one that got away" catagory? What has he done at Auburn to merit this?

He came really close to quiting the team because of a chronic injury. His game play is still a mystery.

I might ponder this after next season.

grew up an alabama fan????????

you do not grow up an alabama fan and go to auburn it just does not happen anybody that says they are a bama fan and goes to auburn is a horrible liar.

That's not true at all...

getting a scholarship and a college education should be paramount. He held off signing with AU until he was told that he could only walk on at Bama.

The jury is still out on Brandon Cox. But my gut tells me he will be a good one that got away. I have had the opportunity to watch him scrimmage, and the young man appears to be a very good pocket passer, with an excellent delivery/throwing arm. But, that was under simulated game situations. Ultimately, we will find out next year how good he really is.
I love Brodie to death, he has given his heart and soul to this football team. But the cold, hard fact of the matter is, as a starter, I believe that the team has a losing record. I don't know what Brodie's legacy will ultimately be at UA, but barring a major turnaround and injury-free season next fall, my guess is he will end up somewhere "in the middle" of our great line of signal-callers.

Exactly!!! I graduated from the University of Alabama, and my family for three generations before me has either attended or supported Alabama, but if Auburn offered one of my children a free education and a chance at their dreams, and Alabama did not, I would strongly encourage them to take that opportunity offered by that school down the road.
