Changing the Extra Point

OK! If you score a touchdown from 15 + yards you get to kick the extra point from the traditional spot. If the score is from 15 - yards, then you have to kick the extra-point from the 20. (No Tee!)

I would like to see them try the rugby-style PAT, lined up from where the ball crosses the goal line. Or, pulled back from where the runner is able to "touch down" the ball in the end zone. By the way, why do we still call it a "touchdown" when it is really a "break plane"?

I also miss leather helmets, black high tops, and (openly enjoying) bourbon and cigars in the stands.

We both scored TDs in our Overtimes. Florida missed their XP; Alabama missed ours, but a penalty against Florida gave us another shot, which we won. One of the best games I can remember. Final Score - Alabama 40, Florida 39

I see no reason to change anything but I am sure someone will somewhere down the road. If I was going to change something to make the game more interesting, I would give the defense a point for making a team punt. If the offense didn't want to give the other teams defense a point by punting they could go for it on 4th down.

Awesome idea! 2 points for forcing a 3 and out, 1 point for forcing a punt after giving up a 1st down.

They should build this structure in the end zone and allow the fans an opportunity to shoot the ball down before it goes through the goal posts. A true home field advantage for the southern teams!

That would be interesting too! Its late in the game, game is tied, a team has the ball in the shadows of their own goalpost and its third and long! What do they do, punt and give the other team a point and the ball? Go for it and take the chance of getting a first down or risk giving up the ball to the other team on their own side of the field in field goal range? Now that would make things a little bit interesting wouldn't it?

I think the kick should be 30-35 yds, still a fairly easy kick for college kickers but not automatic.

How about just narrowing the goal posts (or add a second set that are very narrow). That'll reduce some of the point after success. Or we could just play football and stop worrying about fixing something that's not broken.

Leave the PAT alone. Now and then PAT's are missed and it often affects the outcome of the game.
