Slightly off-topic...
I'm loving this Montana vs. Appy St game...nothing like watching football games in the snow! And its snowing but good in this one. Currently tied at 17 Appy St driving.
That WAS a fun game to watch, wasn't it? Fans shirtless in the snow...I'm not sure they were all entirely sober...

4 things -

1) I over reacted in my earlier posts and I apologize. I can't blame him for taking the job. Who could? How many of us want advancement in our personal life? I work a lame job as a security guard right now since I'm in college, but when I graduate I'll be leaving for greener pastures despite what it does to my co-workers. That is just reality.

2) He is absolutely not leaving for SJSU; no way, no how, not gonna happen. No one has even confirmed that he has interviewed there, and I'm guessing he has not. SJSU is a dead football program, and many other programs from the west may open up next year. Building a strong coordinator resume ala Charlie Strong (with multiple NC's) is a much more stable way to go about landing a bigger job than jumping at the first loser school in the country. There are many more Charlie Strong/Bo Pelini types compared to Turner Gills. Most big name coordinators who get hired at small time programs find themselves stuck in the quick sand of the mediocrity/loser nature of the school.

3) This is Nick Saban's program, not CKS or CJM's. If he leaves, then we will find someone just as capable (if not more capable). Nick Saban's influence is apparent in every single aspect of this team. From the strong, aggressive defense, to the powerful run game, to the work ethic, to the focused mentality, etc...this is his team and the coordinators simply fit that mold. This isn't Auburn where they have a weak man at the top and the coordinators bring their own mentality to the team, this is more a case of the head man finding guys that have his attitude and share his ideas, etc.

4) The replacements we could find are exceptional. From what I have heard, outside assistants are literally letting people in the AD know that they'd like the opportunity to work at Alabama if any openings become available. The knowledge these guys take away from Saban is extremely valuable. How many of you here would LOVE to learn from someone at the top of your profession? I'm a business major, and heck, I'd also jump at the chance to learn from Saban - he's one of the most organized, motivational, and genius leaders in ANY industry.

I loved watching that one, those two teams in the snow made it a fun game to watch! I was suprised at how well some of those guys made their cuts on running routes etc.
Of course I love snow although I rarely see it here in Bama.
I'll watch the Bears or other NFL teams sometimes if they play in snow.
And yes, those fans had to have had a little help liquid source somewhere to do that (and I don't mean cappuccinos)!:p

It was reported on Tidesports that he has interviewed, but beyond that, I don't know if he's accepted. They had an article on it Sunday I believe.

I would expect if he interviewed there's a chance he's definitely interested in moving back west.
I'd like to see him stay around a while longer, I like his style of offense and the success he's had with our qb's has been great. But I'd understand if he wants to get back 'home' and have his own gig.

Yah, and it featured one of the most brutal hits I've seen in a long time!

It was reported on another board that Tom Dienhart has reported that McElwain has turned down the SJSU job...I'm looking for a link.

A better hire for San Jose St. IMO if they can get him is the current HC at Montana.
From a couple of boards that I have read, the Montana coach is their main target. Now, since McElwain is from Montana, would you think that he would take that job if the Montana coach did leave?

Jim McElwain may make more money as Alabama's OC than the Montana HC makes. ;) Maybe not I don't know what Bobby Hauck makes at Montana but it's a thought.

Prolly close enough that I would stay down here close to the beach and not have to deal with my face freezing in say 2-3 seconds from just walking outside.

Looks like Hauck may not be leaving Montana: montanakaimin.com - Sports
It’s not a done deal yet, but University of Montana head football coach Bobby Hauck said he expects to be back with the Griz next season.

There is a three-year deal on the table for Hauck, but he can also sign a one-year contract. The base salary of the one-year contract is similar to the three-year deal but it will not have the incentives that the three-year contract offers.

CJM makes a base of $325K. I'm sure he, like the whole staff, has incentives, all of which they've met, except for winning the BCSCG. Montana would be a huge step down. He can get a better HC job after next year...

and CNS has been very "fair" to his assistants when it comes to sharing the incentive wealth.
